70 Barracuda convertible clone to 71 cuda vert

I offered him $40,000 a couple years back when he was asking $50k. He didn't like that. It's a tough one because it's a 70 cloned to a 71 and he used a 70 only color scheme. I like it but you couldn't get a 71 with a red interior. Then there's the 318 with a 2 barrel....oh yeah and it's in hawaii...

Most WIW questions are always difficult to get a handle on. The total investment is often times a fraction of what it is worth, and most owners can't get past this dilemma. A 318 car is only worth so much, no matter how many parts are put on it. A true RT or Cuda will always trump the lesser cars in value, but even then, the add on parts only go so far. If you spend 15k on a paint job, it will be better return on a more desirable car any day of the week, but in reality, a paint job does not get all the value added to the car  when it is time to sell. 35-40k is what I would put on it, but I for one, would rather have a car that is not cloned as this one is.

This is my car being discussed....let me say also, the car came out of a dirt floor barn in Illinois, thus why it is so clean....brought to Indiana and brought back to life......has been in Maui since 11/2014........driven daily!!!!:)

Shipping from Hawaii to the mainland isn't as expensive as one might think - it's not cheap, but it isn't outrageous either. When I lived there I had a couple of friends who bought cars new out of Oregon, where there is no sales tax, and had them shipped out to Hawaii. Even dispite the shipping costs, they still came out ahead versus buying new in Hawaii and paying the local sales tax.

Didn't you also have a Hemi engine for the car at a higher price?

Last time that car was talked about here, it was in the 'babes' section.  I would also prefer a 70.
