Gettin back up to speed
« on: August 06, 2016 - 04:02:48 PM »
Been out of commission about a month and a half. Started with my left foot gpong numb, pins and needles sometimes. Then I developed an ulcer on my left heel that would not heal. And I couldn't walk. The pain was unbearable.
Well now everybody is asking me if I have diabettes because those are 2 symtoms. So I get a blood sugar meter at the drugstore, start checking and my readings are good. Perfect normal. So I just keep talking care of the ulcer hoping it will heal. No such luck.
Finally go to a doctor who sends me to a lab for a sonogram on my left leg ( pretty cool to watch    )  So we find a narrowing of the artery that feeds the lower leg/foot at the knee.  :swear: Well thats going to require surgery. And thats out of the question. So were going to try to treat it with drugs, etc. Also found out that garlic is great for circulation.
So the ulcer is starting to heal since I been staying off my feet. Starting Monday I'll be going to the shop and doing as much as I can, even if it starts at just couple hours a day. I was pretty depressed for awhile but snapping out of it now. One cool thing is my new doctor has 6 old cars.   :woohoo:  More on that later.

Thanks guys. OK, doc put me on a med that works on opening up the arteries in the legs, and it keeps the red blood cells from clumping. And it's friging working.   :woohoo:  The ulcer is healing and getting smaller every day. Foot no longer goes numb. Up to about 5 hours a day work, give or take.  :2thumbs:  Best part is I'm excited again about working on the cars, my passion.   :cooldancing:    I never saw this coming, circulation to legs and feet is so important.  Now, back to  :working:

that is awesome to hear! modern medicine is really starting to drill into some easier 'fixes' for issues that would have absolutely required surgery or some other invasive technique just 10-15 years ago. it will be interesting to see what innovations the next 10-15 bring.
