power steering pump and steering gear box

what type of power steering pump would have been on a 71 340 cuda?
(Federal, Saginaw, with/without res. etc)

where can one find a good complete "kit" to rebuild said pump?

how about to rebuild the box?

Saginaw pump and brackets are readily available.

we can put a package together to include

Saginaw pump
Pulley
Nut
pump cap
brackets
pressure line
return line

we have a local guy that rebuild the steering gears. Are you still in Monticello, MN ?

thanks mopardave, but I actually already have all of these items... But uncertain if what I have is correct as it seems everything for a 71 340 cuda is unique.

so here's the pump I have, is it a Saginaw /correct?

where can one find a good complete "kit" to rebuild this pump?

the tear drop is what you have is a newer style Saginaw. it will work , but I believe you should have the oval neck style.

rock auto has complete rebuild kits for both the steering pump and the box.

Pump is easy...box..more difficult!

You have a later style Saginaw with a press fit pulley.  My 73 uses the reservoir style that Dave posted and has a "keyed" pulley.(nut holds it on)  My guess is that your 71 should have a keyed pulley as well.  I bought my rebuild kit from Advance Auto.  It was less than $20 and came with all new O-rings and a shaft bushing.

Omega seals seal kits for them easy to get .
 The Oval neck housing should swap onto your pump if needed

I've heard that once a pressed pulley is removed, it shouldn't be reinstalled.  It can work its way off.  Don't know if that's true or not.  When I tried removing a pressed pulley on my latest project it would not come off without a major fight.(even with a puller) I ended up destroying the pulley.
