1970 Cuda 440 auto - nice options!

On the way back to St Lou from Michigan, I was using my phone to see if there were any interesting deals along the way and I found this 1970 Cuda 440 auto in Indianapolis here: http://www.indyluxurymotorsports.com/vehicle-details/1970-plymouth-barracuda-coupe-137fe9c25bb34a1f9baf22b978f8745c/





This car is nicely equipped - just look at that fender tag! U-code 440 auto. High-Impact FC7 with a black vinyl top. A21 Elastomeric front bumper package; A32 Super-Performance 4:10 geared axle package; A62 Rallye Gauge package; C62 six-way seat; P31 power windows and a "Q-code" VON indicating that it was originally a Chrysler executive lease car. What is not to like? So, since it was on my way I had to stop in and take a serious look at it since I thought that this just might be "the one" that I was looking for.

It kind of went downhill from there ...

From the topside, it looks pretty decent. It shows pretty well and the interior is really nice with what looks like a brand new leather interior upgrade over the original vinyl one. However when they put it up on the lift that's where it went downhill. The car must of been pretty rusty at one point. The front and rear floor pans were replaced - and not all that well by the looks of it. New quarter panels, or quarter skins were put on too - and not all that well by the looks of that either. The outer wheel wells and trunk extensions were perforated with rust holes and not spot-welded to the quarters If you are going to pull the quarters off to replace them, and see the outer wheel wells and trunk extensions rusted through, you would think that whoever did the work would fix that before hanging the new quarters!

It is a nicely optioned car and it looks pretty decent - from the top. For the price point I suppose you could do a lot worse for a "driver". However, if you have the skills or resources to properly fix the sheet-metal issues and restore it, it would be an exceptional car as it has some really great options on it.

I Think that is a good price for a factory U code cuda . Good options less U codes then big brother V codes but a six pk is a six pk  ya .A little T.L.C under the car re paint the engine bay 2 body colour Chase up the factory front bar and it looking good .Could be a nice driver RzeroB   u  r spot on

Wonder how the trans shifts in that car.  Noticed the linkage is adjusted completely wrong...  Little dumb things that stand out to me after dealing with mine for so long.

I did not pick up on the adjustment and geometry of the carb to trans linkage. However, I did drive it, and it definitle shifts hard - the 1-2 shift "barks" the tires with only a part throttle application.
