You have timing control as well?

Hate to throw another monkey wrench but your timing control could also be giving you problems. Didn't the tech's walk you through troubleshooting the timing control as well?

If it comes back being ok, and I hook up the timing control lead properly, and things still don't work,
that will be the next item to focus on.

When you see 4 guys standing around the Reaper's car in Street Outlaws,
wondering why it won't run (we replaced this, and this, and this....), you don't feel so
bad when you can't figure out why your car won't run.

Hang in there Bob, this has got to be maddening for you. For me when I've run into problems like this the thing I feared  the most was finding something super simple.  :misbehaving:

thanks. I'm confident we're pretty close.  The new issue will be, once I find the problem, and solve it, what other
problems did I create in trying to solve the original problem ie, I rebuilt carb, new intake gasket, new dist mag pickup, etc.
But I feel pretty confident the issue will be solved. Or, I'll just have to admit defeat,
and buy a brand new 572 Hemi.

Ya a new 572 that'll fix it!
That mean old 440 is no good, I'd get rid of it ASAP. I will be up there tomorrow and take it so you won't be tormented any more.

ok, got 6AL box and 1 month old coil back.

MSD said 6AL box was good. So the fix they did two months
ago, fixing my bad ground wire, was all it needed.

The new high vibrations Blaster coil I bought 1 month ago, was BAD!!
Internal arching and stuff. So they gave me a new one!. The bad one was
one I bought from Summit 1 month ago, to replace another new one I bought from Summit
two months ago. So, in two months, Summit sent me two bad brand new MSD high vibration
Blaster coils. Obviously not Summit's fault.  So will install everything again, with my third
new Blaster Coil. Think I switch to the newer HVC blaster coils.https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8252

Hopefully that is it, but I did mention the HVC coils before.

Maybe they put a bit more in QC as they are more expensive?  :clueless:

Still not working, after setting up with new HVC coil. Email I just sent MSD

Dear MSD,
Please put all your smartest heads on this issue. I have had my 6AL digital box back to you twice, and the second time I included a new Blaster Coil. The first time you sent the box back to me, you had found a bad ground wire, and you fixed it.  I set everything up, and shorted the two wires to get a spark on my spark tester. I got a spark by touching the two paperclip wires to the green and purple wires, then I got no spark on the second try. Engine would then not fire.

I sent you my 6AL digital Box and new coil. you sent them back, and said coil was bad. I bought a new HVC coil, and wired everything up again. I did your test with the paperclip wires shorting the green and purple wires.  When I touch the wires with the clip, I got a spark on my spark tester, then I removed paperclip, then retouched it, and got no spark. Seems twice that when i use the paperclip to the two wires, I get a spark, then can get no more. The spark seems to happen when I touch the wires together, not when I remove them. Either way, now the coil or 6AL box seem bad again??  I also have hooked up your variable timing knob.

Been trying to solve this for 4 months?

the ignition trigger goes through the Timing adjust module. Think next step will be to bypass the timing
control system. Suggested this to MSD, will wait to hear what they say.

Is your timing control used for retarding the timing for engine startup?

no, not meant for that.

just talked with MSD.  They now agree timing unit may be causing this issue, and informed me
there is a different testing method I should be using. Agghh! wish I had known that a few months ago, as
I had mentioned I have their adjustable timing unit. Back to the cold garage!!
