    Problem with new tach

    Last year my tach died so during this past winter I replaced it with an OER from Classic Industries. For the first hundred miles or so it worked perfect. Now it does not move until I've driven 5 miles or so, then it works great until the car has sat for a day or so and then the same old deal.  Kind of like it gets stuck from sitting for very long.  Is this another winter project, replacing the tach again ?  I'm starting to think that OER is related to JC Whitney after all the trouble I've had with various gauges of theirs.

    Remove and reconnect all the connections with your tach. Reinstall with dielectric grease, If no change, you need a new tach.

    By remove and reconnect I mean to pull the connector off the tach and push back on. Maybe a couple times just to ensure a good clean connection. Don't know what ign system you have but remake/clean all of the connections. If you have an MSD with tach adapter, then it may be the adapter instead of the tach.

    Stock electronic ignition. I try out what you suggest. It will be a hellva better than pulling that damn dash for the umpteenth time.  :pullinghair:

    Can you reach the connector on the back of the tach without pulling the dash? I don't remember it has been a while since I had dash issues.

    You can, just have to be a bit of a contortionist; much easier w/o the seat in place.

    When I get around to it, the passenger seat will come out first. From that angle, I can get to almost everything since I don't have a console.
