yeah, but they have a 7.8 billion dollar surplus-yet they continue to raise taxes , they have severed links with australia and the us, they have mothballed the combat wing of our airforce, they are negotiating a fair trade deal with china and when people have called the police they have been sent taxis instead

oh, and another thing they havean almost fearful opposition to nuclear power, they claim to be "protecting new zealands clean, green image" by ysing smog belcking coal fired power stations and noisy, dangerous wind farms over one of the cleanest, safest form of power. They have also banned smoking in all indoor workplaces, namely pubs and resturants, effectively taking away peoples free will.

in conclusion, the labour government are a bunch of derranged hippies (im sorry if i have offended anyone in this most rantful of rants)

and, last but not least, the smoking.
I dont smoke, but dont really mind those who do, just dont blow it in my face, or youl be eating the cigarret!
But, you say it is your right to smoke, "free will"? Aint it my free will to breath smoke free air? Smoke really hurt those with athsma, and other problems like that, but.......fresh air sure wont hurt the smokers!
Your young, you'll see things a little different in a few years.

i dont smoke, and dont plan to, but if i dont like a place because people are smoking there, il go somewhere else

our government seems to think we need to be protected from ourselvs

the way their going, if a minority is offended by something (eg nuclear power), they ban it, then twist it to make everyone else think its bad

i am not joking, if you ask 90% of people here about nuclear power, they will tell you its bad, just becaust our government has been force-feeding them propoganda for so many years

one of the arguments iv heard against nuclear power is thesteam pipe that burst at a nuclear power station in japan a year or so back that killed one or two people
a steam pipe exploded
nuclear power stations are not the only place steam pipes occour

the way this governments going, we are going to end up being either invaded or in the dark ages

Well, dont worry, we will come and rescue you. (me and NZ have had this discussion before)

I feel the same way about our government, cant do this, cant do that, like a law will make us wear a seatbelt, jeez! saw the news tonight, another died from not wearing a seatbelt, sure, the law works? uhuh. Just another way to extort 15 bucks out of us, and justifie a job, when there is real criminals to catch, but jee, that aint as fun as sitting in a car looking for speeders or someone not wearing a seatbelt is it?
I just think most of our governments have they're priorities wrong.
The big difference from there and here (me and NZ have gone over this too) is we all have guns here, to protect us from our government, mostly. It was the way out founding father wanted it, so, if our government got out of ahnd, like Iraq, Afghanistan, ect, we wont need anyones help, we can defend ourselves.
We ahve this slogan, dont trust a government that doesnt trust your guns. Why? Becasue they are doing something that was not intended? Hmmmmmmmmm.
There are a few out there who thing we should get rid of all our guns, and it aint fair that I have a 4wheeler, or a nice truck, and they dont. (Communism? Socialism?) OK, I am way off track now. sorry.

our government lets us have guns, but doesnt let us carry them
but our government doesnt have that many guns either
our government spent heaps of money on mercidies unimog army trucks, which are really unsafe
for some reason each year, on roughly the same day, at quarter to nine in the morning, a whole convoy of them drives past my school, ushually with guys on motorbikes holding guns (for some reason their allowed but were not)
and you know the really weird thing, these trucks are more or less empty, except for a few soldiers and a trailer load of jerrycans and crates

mabey their up to something... (we need a shifty eyed smilie)

There is a simple explination for that.  They are trained to use them properly.  They are not at risk to blow up and just start shooting, as many civilians I know are.

and, i just remembered, this bloody kyoto protocol buisness
new zealand is being fined something like $500000 for breaching a volintary protocol by releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
what the **** is that about
how the hell do you measure the amount of carbon dioxide coming off a country?
stick it in a bubble?
and carbon dioxide makes up less than 1% of the atmosphere
is new zealand really hoping to make a diference?
there would be a hullova lot less gasses and crap being released if those damn polititians would just shut their holes and stop signing things

i want to move to america, they were smart enough not to sign that stupid protocol

(NZ; please dont tell me your mum is helen clarke, if i have offended you in some way, im sorry)

Nope, got nothing to ad, everyone has there own opinions. I feel our government is doing a fantastic job. A few silly calls and in some caes bad judgement but if it was an easy job we wouldn't have a government. We'd all be running around in paddocks of daisys in the sun.  8)

Maybe you and Andrew should trade spots then, so you can live with people who think like you.

andew, as far as the carbon dioxide issue. Global warming is no BS. Go ask Alaska T/A. I'm sure he'll tell you that things are changing there. I have seen footage of starving bears. Now I know what some will say. "Who cares" I do! We need them and they need us to survive. When the the polar icecaps melt, the polar bears will become extinct along  with the emperor penguins. I love nature. And I am one to see hate to see it detroyed. Your country has a good law IMO.
