70 Challenger V Code Value Assessment
« on: August 24, 2016 - 08:06:30 PM »
Greetings All,

I am interested in input concerning the value of the following 70 Challenger:

V code; 440-6; 4 speed; numbers matching original driveline components;  hemi orange original paint; rust free body including trunk floor; black vinyl top; black interior; 50k on the clock with the build sheet stuck in the back seat. Vehicle looks great and runs hard.

Thanks for your input,

Missthe60s

Need more photos to really help on value.  Sounds like a cool car!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I doubt that's original paint...The rad support is orange, hood inserts are black etc... :2cents:

I didn't think about the hood inserts, they are not original paint on top as someone did spray bomb them semi gloss black several decades ago to personal taste.  Now that you mention it I will remove the black paint and see if the orange paint underneath on the inserts is presentable.

Concerning the radiator support the engine compartment was painted when the engine was pulled at 38,000 miles to have Chuck Lofgren rebuild it as the owner at that time thought it used more oil than it should.  He was planning to have the car painted after the engine work was completed but never followed through so the exterior retains it's original finish.

I should have been more specific concerning the paint.  The entire exterior of the vehicle is the original factory paint with the exception of the two hood inserts.  The vinyl top is original.  The trunk compartment is the original paint.  The engine compartment / core support was repainted with the exception of the underside of the hood which is original and the finish is rough (as was the engine compartment before it was painted when the engine was removed).  Don't know what "etc" referred to so I can't address the question you would have there.

I will post further pictures.

Looks like there might be some bubbling under the vinyl top on the passenger side next to the rear window. More photos would help.

The area under the vinyl top that shows up in the picture is the leaded seam.

Sounds like you've already purchased the car, if you got it for ~40k you got a decent deal.

A nice survivor V code like that one is worth way more than $40,000. Legendary motorcars presently have a survivor 383 auto and they want $69,000 usd. My friend is negotiating on that one and they are only willing to go down to $66,000.

Nice looking car. Most if not all vinyl roof cars had plastic/bondo on the rear roof to quarter seams, not lead.  :2cents:

Al, did you see more pictures of that V code? Just wondering how you know the LMC Challenger has ten times more originality. I checked out the LMC car and it has some non original items on it, most notably the desirable original 9171 MC has been replaced with a $50.00 aftermarket MC.
