I saw a Dodge Dakota Sport the other day
« on: August 28, 2016 - 10:37:38 PM »
It had a Challenger style dual snorkle hood?
 Was THAT factory?

Never seen or heard of that before. It was cool looking.
It definately caught my eye, anyway. Didn't get an upoclose look, he was going west, and I was going east.

The first time I saw it was in Mopar Muscle magazine back in the mid 90's. Someone grafted a junk Challenger hood to their Dakota hood. A short time later, one of the popular fiberglass hood companies made their own. It was a very popular hood upgrade for quite a few years. Dodge never offered it from the factory on a Dakota. They offer it now on some Ram models. Personally, I think it's played out. I like the standard hood on the Rams better.

I did see a RAM with this on a lot yesterday. I was hoping people weren't thinking that I was confusing it with a Dakota.

At one time, I thought of grafting a Challenger hood on my Coronet EEK- no. (they do have simalar design flowings - just in reverse - that was my ispiration) Not the right time frame or anything.
Boxy and aero do not mix.
I also wondered what a flat Challenger hood would look like with twin Superbee scoops. Still pondering that one. I will sober up soon, lol.
Just have some scoops laying around, wondering what to do with them.

Thanks for the info.   Played out is probably the best response. Thanks, Burdar.

Disn't some Darts and Dusters have those scoops as an option.
Scamp comes to mind

Superbee scoops...

A-body scoops...

I'm not sure if they are the exact same part or if the A-bodies have a smaller scoop...since they are a smaller car?

I don't think that Chrysler would have made anything different at the time. I bet all those scoops are the same. The one's that I have came off a '69 Dodge Dart. Has the chrome front trim.
I don't have photoshop skills, and Mopar purists would hate me to pieces, but I would like to see what A Challenger would look like with them.

I really think that they would be cool? It would be definately different.

And don't tell me that they didn't explore the option back in the day, lol.
