 RHS , Airwolf , W2 /5/8/9 :2thumbs:
 Doing more research the LA X & RHS seem to be the same , good combustion chamber shape & size & @ $1000 for a pair decent price too

Well to hijack my own thread, what are peoples thoughts on the new Indy LA X iron heads?

John, are you thinking about a 340 stroker?
I will be taking my block down to South Cal next month for the build and has been reading the Hughes 426 stroker kit. It is a little longer than the typical 4" stroke and available in custom forged piston sizes. Take a look and see what you think. BTW, I am going with aluminum heads (lighter) and have the engine builder check them out for me.

Yeah I am trying to decide for the next round on my 340 if I should keep the stock stroke or go stroker. What I like about the Indy heads is they are iron which helps give more of a stock appearance, plus I don't like the overhang on the ends of the block you get with aluminum heads. I was just reading about how hughes modifies the indy heads and those look appealing. Also I plan to retain the 6 pack, so that limits head choices as well.

You could build a 7500 rpm 340.

When you increase the stroke you increase the distance the piston has to travel to complete one revolution therefore the piston speed is increased when this engine is run at high rpm it will not be as reliable as the standard stoke engine the lower the piston speed the less wear and stress.
