2017 Cuda-Challenger Calendar Contest Submissions & Rules

It’s calendar time again. Before we get to the submission instructions, however, I want to point everyone to an announcement about the calendar at ???.

To enter the contest take a new picture of your Barracuda, 'Cuda or Challenger.  This can be an A-body Barracuda/'Cuda, an E-body Barracuda/'Cuda or Challenger, or a modern Challenger. The car can be bone stock, resto-mod, a full-out racer, or anything else that has inspired you. In fact, your submission doesn’t even need to be a car, or at least all of it. We also solicit shots of works in progress, details, engines, anything that goes, has gone, or will go into you car.

Submit only one image per vehicle. You can send as image of each Barracuda, 'Cuda or Challenger you own, however.
The car must belong to you. You don't have to be the photographer, but you must be the owner.
Use of image editing tools (such as Photoshop) to correct color and contrast is fine. (NOTE: There are two things we’re trying to address with this. The first is Photoshopping your car in with something like the Eiffel Tower. If you want to do that, ship your car to Paris and take the shot  . The second is the overuse of High Dynamic Ranging, or HDR, which not only makes the shot look unnatural but also gives the printer fits.)
"New picture" means taken after last year's competition deadline for entries.

Include the following information with your submission:
   Your first name (e.g., David)
   Your cuda-challenger.com username (e.g., ChallengerHK)
   The model year(s) of the car(s) (e.g. 1973)
Any special model designations (e.g., RT, Gran Coupe)
Your preferred month if you have one (no guarantees, but we'll try)

Camera Settings
Use your camera's highest resolution. Your submission must have a pixel count of at least 3000 on the longest side of the image; this is roughly the equivalent of 6-7 megapixels. If you don't know how to set your camera resolution, check with me (David, e-mail below) or send me a test image.

The resolution issue really can't be stressed enough. Several people in the past have submitted low resolution images with suggestions to use Photoshop to enlarge them. While this can be done, the final image is very blurry.

So, even if you don’t want to learn anything else about your camera, know what its highest resolution is, and how to check the resolution it’s set at.

If you use Microsoft Outlook to submit, it may ask if you want to resize the image when you send it. This is almost always making the image smaller so it will transmit more quickly. If you see a pop-up asking what image size you want to send, then select "Original size".
If your camera has a date/time stamp, please turn it off.

Image Settings
If you have an HDR setting on your camera, please turn it off. Aside from looking somewhat fake, HDR images also sometimes play havoc with the printing process.
Please don't crop the image. If you want the final image to be cropped, either tell us how you would like it cropped or send a separate cropped image. We sometimes need all the resolution we can get, and cropping an image will reduce the pixel count, as well as throwing off the aspect ratio (and you thought that term only applied to tires, didn't you?).
Speaking of aspect ratios, some cell phones take very wide images; some newer cameras can do the same. If you're shooting with a cell phone or a newer model camera that takes a wide image, leave plenty of space on both ends of the image, because there will be parts of the image that are cut off to fit the calendar page.

Submit your picture by midnight, Saturday OCTOBER 22th, 2016 in order to enter the contest.
I will confirm receipt of every image; I’ll try to do so within 48 hours, but this year I’m living in a spot with no internet, so I might only be able to check mail and download and check images every other day or so, so it might take me 72 hours. If there are problems, like low resolution, I'll let you know.
If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail from me within 72 hours:
- First, check your spam folder
- Second, send me an e-mail (bottom of the post) asking me to verify that I have received your image
If I'm going to be unavailable to confirm receipt, I'll post a note about when I'll be unavailable.

Voting will start on Saturday November 1st for the 12 main photos (1 for each month).  We will have voting open for 7 days (through Saturday November 8th).

Send submissions to:

RdWaryer at aol dot com

If you know of a car show which would like to be listed, send that information as well.

Judy will open a separate topic with ordering information, including a cost per calendar. Since we've now gone to print-on-demand, we don't really have to do pre-ordering any more the way we used to.

Good luck and have fun

As of Saturday midnight there were 5 submissions. I now have a 6th.

I'm going to run submissions for at least another week. In the meantime I'll check with Judy and see what deadline she's comfortable with.

OK, I'm going to run submissions for another few days, at least until thhe 31st, maybe a day or two longer. In the meantime, I'm going to put up the submissions I have, without a poll (we may or may not need one) because I think I may have lost one and I want to be sure of what I have. I'll post again here when the "preview" is up so folks can take a look and verify that I have all submissions.

I'm guessing there isn't going to be a 2016 calendar.  :dunno:

What if we opened it up to any Mopars you own '74 and older?
