A member's Dream Car ?
« on: August 29, 2016 - 10:23:36 PM »
A while ago there was a member here who bought a yellow 70 Challenger and was upset and thought he got burnt.....

Not giving up on his dream he bought the Strawberry Shortcake car out of Canada and was EXTREMELY happy with the deal.....

Now that car is up for sale  :clueless: ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Challenger-Cream-Dream-440-Magnum-/162181762907?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25c2c94f5b:g:nQwAAOSwgZ1XwJ3r&item=162181762907

I hope nothing bad has happen to our member :dunno:
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

I seen that. Maybe he got sick of looking at the rare colours, Hopefully nothing bad happened in his life to force the sale.

Hi all....still here but just moving on. Thanks for checking up on me.

Alan...just to add here that it wasn't that I thought I got burnt from Donald (Danny) Tarquini....I was burnt from Donald Tarquini. Many others here (if not all) agreed with me. I don't ever want that watered down to "thought I was burnt". For anyone interested....here's the link to the discussion. If you read it, everything went bad about mid-way through the thread. Tarquini removed himself from the Cuda-Challenger website shortly after he sold the Challenger to me, and all his posts vanished too....along with the for sale post of the 70 Challenger that was supposed to be pristine. So, to read it now, every posting that Tarquini (RTSE440UCODE) did in the thread has been removed.

I believe its a good read and can possibly save many members here a lot of grief when buying a car sight unseen.

Here is the link for anyone interested.

Let me make this clearer. The deal with Tarquini was a different deal....not on the above Challenger. The deal with Tarquini was on a 70 Challenger RT/SE.

Yes....Tarquini continues to post and sell parts on the Yenko site under the name of XXXBlackLs6M22. The Yenko site is also a very good site....just like this one but it is open to all makes. The sad thing about buying Tarquini's yellow Challenger is that I had another car on the line at that time....but I purchased his because he seemed like "such a nice guy". Live and learn. The car I wish I should have purchased was a 74 AMC AMX with 1,400 original miles....all original. So a message to all....never trust a guy that you talk to on the phone just because he's a "nice guy". They sometimes turn out to be the biggest crooks. If anyone has the slightest doubts about my saga or the condition of the Challenger when I got it....well another member on this site and now a friend of mine AARTA340 drove out to see the yellow Challenger for himself shortly after I got it from Tarquini. I'm sure he will attest to everything that I have now said and everything in the original post if asked.
Here's a pic of what I should have bought last year.

I got tired of friends coming over and saying that it was a nice build but an ugly car. Also, it was a car that was now built to be a trailer queen and I really wanted something that I could have fun with an drive.

Sad situation  Craig
I an tell you for sure someone had installed a diaphragm clutch probably Centerforce in the R/T SE they never feel right or operate properly & do tend to pop up suddenly approx 2/3 of the way up & when power shifting at RPM the clutch an stay disengaged / overcentered & not return ,  so the fix was to pull the trans & replace it with the corret clutch & might as well drop the whole drivetrain out & go through the engine t the same time  fix the leaks & ticking issue . I suppose I could have flown up & done all that but maybe it worked out better this way .
Sorry to hear you are selling the cream R/T now . I hope all is well & it is not for health reasons .
Good Luck with the sale it is a very unique car .

But wait this is exactly what you wanted or was looking for  was a Perfect documented car , most of these  these really are trailer queens . Most of us own less perfect cars so we can modify them & have a lot more fun with them .
I am caught in the same dilemma , my car is documented & rare although the #s engine was sitting 3 feet from the ar when I bought it the seller would not let the engine go for any price so I have a different engine in it now , I am unwilling to drive it & enjoy it , at times I wish I had a 70 318 car so I could do what I want with it which is why I had the second car a 71 Charger but it is gone now unfortunatly .

Thanks. The clutch was a minor thing. I think taking the over center spring out would have solved the problem. I wasn't overly concerned about that. The real sad thing is that the correct (very rare and expensive) carb that Tarquini had sent me pics of was no longer on the car when I received it. He switched it out for a generic AVS carb. When comparing the sent pictures to the carb now on the car, anyone could easily spot that. Tarquini must have thought I was blind. The engine had an engine knock and the drivers (original material) seat was ripped. Per Tarquini and his for sale write-up, everything was supposed to be pristine. There were a few other things wrong with the car also. I just want to reiterate that everyone should be very careful when purchasing a collectable in person or online. There are many Donald Tarquinis' out there.
