Finally done fitting up my TTI exhaust
« on: August 30, 2016 - 10:11:29 AM »
Took some time but finally got it done.  2.5" Xpipe system with hooker headers.   Few tips-buy tips welded to the pipes, it's a pain to tack them exactly where they need to be,  TTI leaves you no extra material-so butt welding is a must.  Passenger side pipe bolted up ok, no modification needed.  Driver side takes a custom pipe extension-YOU need to make but do able.  70-72 Reverse rod barely clears-73-74 will not fit.

Weird ....  I thought TTI would supply custom head pipes as long as you had the part # for the headers or manifolds so it would fit right up , of course there are production tolerances in the manufacturing other other companies headers to deal with too .

If you remember correctly, we had to modify the driver side of the TTI set for the convertible as well.  But of course we made it work.

I understand, TTI not wanted there system to bolt directly up to somebody else's headers-or use somebody else's tips-they want you to buy the whole thing from them.   Which is cool-that's how I would run a business.- it was a pain, but there Xpipe system fits perfectly

I actually did buy the whole thing except the tips . . still had some issues though . . . pretty much my luck.  I'm the type that would be bald and win a comb in a raffle . . .  :dunno:

I've installed two TTI systems complete with their headers. Adjustments had to be made to everything except 1 set of headers but I would expect that with production variances in 46 year old cars.

CP time to start asking for money for advise.

I have been blessed , I have made numerous great friends through cars & internet , I have had trips paid for me numerous times , I have flown & visited many places now just to build or tune cars for people , I have to be one of the richest people in the world not in $$ , I am broke , but in friends & experiences how do you beat that ? My Bank acct will never be full but my life will be as much as possible , I do not have a lot of regrets , I have helped a lot of people along the way & had some amzing experiences , I have always had a policy of giving first & expecting nothing in life , it has served me well , as the saying goes if I lent someone a $ & never saw them again it was well spent .
The time spent here has been fun & challenging it has got me through a lot of years trapped inside alone away from the cold ... without this I would have gone bat $(%$ crazy I imagine with 9 month winters . I love to live vicariously through other peoples builds .
I will always accept donations or jump on a plane to come & help .
