This is my buddy's '70. They look good with the Nitto tires he has on.  Pics are from Drew Crane at the Golden cruise.

Does anyone have the 17x9 RALLEY rims in the front with the VIPER calipers and 11.75" rotors?   I just tried a factory 15x7 RALLEY rim onto a Viper caliper 11.75" disc setup (Dr. Diff) and the factory steel RALLEY rim hits the Viper caliper... won't fit.

I'm considering eventually getting a set of the 17x9 RALLEY rims (front and rear) and considering all options with the brake setup and rims... I may skip the Viper setup and just go with the cast iron Cordoba calipers with the 11.75 discs (I also have 15x8 minilight rims that just barely clear the Viper calipers... actually .. rubs the inside tape weights just a little bit... not desirable).... so, I want to keep with the 11.75 disc diameter for a few years ahead, if not permanent.

I'm aware the the 17x8 (and probably 17x9) Year One Magnum-style rims clear the Viper setup, as that was on the car  (aka "SublimeHemi" Charger) which I just used for my inspection, etc.... The Magnum-style rims are flat on the inside vs the RALLEY rims curve and that's where they (15x7) hit the Viper caliper.

I love the look,  especially with that second picture,   the rear rims fit nicely in that quarter panel area,  nice muclecar look.   I think I am leaning towards going with the 17's but with dark grey center caps for the 71 look.   Great pics.

So what tires would be recommended for best traction?

Is there a M/T Street ET for this size? Or equivalent?

My friend is running on his Shelby the et street ss 305/35/20 it's a good tire we can launch the car hard and get good traction. There's 2 sizes for the 17". 275/40/17 or 315/35/17 might need to check how they fit.  If your just driving it good weather and want closest to a real slick u can do these

There not rwl but there's a company u can get to make them that way

On the 9" wide rim, the 275-40-17 fits best without bulging.  I recently just saw the 17x9 (magnum) YearOne rim with 315-35-17 rear tires... looked good, fit had some bulge, but not bad.... OK for the rear and really adds some nice rear-view appearance with the little extra rubber width.

I agree...poor tire choice plus I think it's a little too low :2cents:
