E Body Cruise control lever
« on: September 07, 2016 - 08:08:27 PM »
I know they are longer than the B-Bodies, but does anyone have one they could measure and let me know the length of an actual cruise control/signal lever?

thanks

Now in the interest of full disclosure that is a cloned lever.... I had a real one to copy so the length is 100% correct... What I did was use two common B/C body levers,, the plastic switch assembly\ies can be slid off the shafts,  I cut  both levers intentionally off center & welded the longer sections into one... The B/C body levers were chrome but the E body wasn't so I turned it in my lathe & sanded off the chrome then painted it with Argent like the original E body switch...

Interesting on how you were able to fabricate one of the correct length. Found one and from what i remember, it was too short, only 7 1/2" overall, so it is probably off a B or C body. Being away from home makes it difficult to insure I don't buy the wrong one, so all the info is great. Thanks again.

Yeah, my R/T SE had cruise but I tend to leave original options on cars & if I like the option I might add it to a car I have no plans to sell so I cloned the lever, as I posted in your thread I used a bracket that is very close but not correct...

And I do keep a spare Servo around.....

Which engines was cruise control available on?
It's a pretty rare option.

I'm taking a guess these were the only ones:

318
383 2 bbl
440 4 bbl

I have two, both 383 4bbl cars. Not sure what others that would permit the option. You sure don't see too many cars with N88 on the fender tag. I am looking for a few parts for the 2nd one. One of the new modules Wild RT is teasing me with would look really nice on my survivor, LOL.

Crazy thing is I bought it on Ebay around 2000-2001 for $15..... It was a complete dealer install kit for an Aspen...... Came with assorted brackets, both speedo cables, throttle cable, TS lever/switch, brake switch.... No other bidders.... You could get some great deals back then.... But I got burned a few times too.. Get sent an items that wasn't nearly as nice as described...

No manual trans...
No multi carb engines...
No 6 cylinder.....
It could be ordered with a 340-4/727...
Later they started offering it on 6 cylinder cars....
