Sold my 1974 today and it left them stranded.

 Well guys / gals I sold my car today for what I deem a reasonable deal given what it was going to cost me to finish paint and body. I just could not justify 15 to 25K and perhaps more into this car. I had a lot of fun and learned a pile on this forum. I am still going to hang around now and again as I still enjoy the car talk and people. Who knows maybe I'll find the finished '71 I have always dreamed of at a giveaway price lol.

 These folks decided to drive it back home 1 1/2 hours away - no indications to me that it wouldn't be fine. Anyways it left them stranded about 1/2 way with a boiled battery (a yellow top at that). I suspect voltage regulator gone bad but of course I do not have a spare (oddly enough) to get them going. Sounds like a $400.00 tow truck ride home - I feel bad that I could not help them more.

 Does this sound like a VR issue to you folks?

Could be a bad alt or reg overcharging the battery .

 I may get another someday - one that is already finished and I promise to leave it bone stock lol. Till then I'll be one of the someday I'll own another of these cars forum type guy.

It was tough to sell - I turned many good offers away since April or May and I always woke up the next day kicking myself for not taking the offer. In fact I almost sent these folks away yesterday without the car. The car truly became a chore and I just did not enjoy it anymore, no matter how much money I poured into it there seemed to be always something else - then I would think about the cost of paint and body and it almost made me sick. I'm sure there may be days of regret - not today though.

 I'm thinking the next one will be something supercharged with air conditioning, leather interior and an ability to handle roads like my street bike lol. Stepping towards an 04 to 06 Viper. Going to put the wrenches away for a bit.

Boiling the battery can be caused by high resistance connections in your bulkhead connector, valve cover connector, connections on the start relay, fooling the VR into thinking the battery is low and upping the alt o/p.

Odd that this only became an issue yesterday? I sure hope it is something simple - this car seems plagued. I will shoot them a text to double check these as well. Only thing that changed recently was the electric fuel pump. The Aeromotive requested a minimum 20amp relay. - I used the 30amp that was previously running the Holley billet pump.

Yes of course - I also directed him to this thread on this current issue. This forum helped me through so many issues on this car - either through a thread I started or just searching the forum.
