YUP....I'm a SUCKER....New Project
« on: September 19, 2016 - 06:05:19 PM »
Often times I get asked what the projects look like BEFORE I start....
Well here is a good example of the basket cases I take on. This car was at another restoration shop in the States, but due to their work load, this project wasn't moving along fast enough for the owners liking.....I'm sure many of you can relate if you've ever had a car in restoration shop hell !

This is what they dropped off in my container ....What a mess ! There are lots of parts, but most don't belong to this car, some aren't even from a Challenger :screwy:  ...and of course I only found one small box of about two dozen bolts...everything else is up to me to find...

My first step will be to strip it COMPLETELY apart (I hate when people blast a car with parts left on, often times destroying any little details the car might of had. :sadwavey:

Then I will put it on a cart, have it re-blasted properly and epoxy primed.

Order all the new sheet metal and put it in line for my metal guy to get it started. :2thumbs:

Compared to the three Sunroof cars I'm doing, this one is pretty simple:
A01 Light group
Rally dash
PS
PB
One chrome racing mirror
Tinted glass-all
Wheel lip moldings
Exhaust tips
power top
AM radio

Along with the other stuff I mentioned earlier, that's about it.... :dunno:  EASY Resto :naughty:

On a side note:
If you live close to me and are looking for parts, I'll have extras for sale...
I came across a real nice Cuda rear bumper with brackets, looks brand new
Challenger gas tank that is new but has a small dent
SE rear window plug with glass, interior trim
couple of 71-74 consoles
70 grill
tail light bezels
black SE hardtop interior panels
etc...
etc...

Get the headlight bolts and nuts for the brackets to somebody near you and have them ship them to me.

Going to be a beautiful car when done!!!   :2thumbs:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thats gonna be nice! When you reblast it, dosen't that thin out the metal, since its been blasted once already? Or do they just blast where needed?

It appears the first blast was possibly soda only, maybe nut shells or something, because it did a terrible job in my opinion.
The company I use has several types of media they use, least of all "sand". So I'm not worried at all about the metal tinning out.....most of the metal will likely need to be replaced anyways :smilielol:

I was thinking the same thing about the grille and maybe a console...

Clear and with no stainless trim, so it's worth nothing....just what I figured...
