Right turn signal indicator on solid with running lights on
« on: September 21, 2016 - 10:49:17 PM »
First, this 70 Challenger is new to me. When I turn on either my parking lights or headlights the right turn signal indicator light comes on solid. If I leave the headlights on and turn on the blinker the indicator light flashes as normal. Help. Thanks

You have a bad ground.... The current feeds back looking for a ground path... Check the bulb socket, the attachment of the socket to the housing & the attachment of the housing to the body......

I found that my right parking light was also not working so I put a jumper from the bulb socket to the chassis and the light started working and the indicator light on the dash went out.
Thanks wild r/t

Next question does the parking light/ turn light bulb socket just pull straight out or does it twist? I don't want to break it and it is not pulling out easily. It seems that may be my ground problem.

Most are staked & don't come apart.... Sometimes forcing the socket to turn cleans the contact area well enough to correct the ground issue... Otherwise you wind up grinding the staked metal to get the socket removed & install a generic replacement socket....

I removed the entire parking light housing and was able to hold the bulb socket and rotate the housing enough to scuff the contact point so all is working well. I checked it with my meter and have a good ground now. :bananasmi
