LED Side Marker Install and possible incorrect purchase issue?
« on: September 22, 2016 - 11:28:36 AM »
Hi gang.. a few things-
I purchased side marker LED's (amber and red) and found that not only can I not get the amber to come out to try and figure out how to swap the bulb ( I have no idea) I found that I think that I purchased the wrong bulb... :pullinghair: -  The rear red ones I opened and they're bulbs and not "tangs"-  Is there an adapter I can buy or did I buy the wrong bulb??   If so, what is the # of the correct one!?!

Never seen any bulb adapters and probably net enough room in the lamp area. here is a picture of the front housing. You will need to take off from behind the fender.

Thank you- Looks like these screw into the housing from the back side?

My rear side markers are a bayonet style bulb which I assume somebody took liberty with using the wrong harness... the front side markers look like they'll be the wedge style like I bought.

NO, They will take the same bulb. the rear sockets are part of the tail lamp wiring, But are in the trunk. The front side markers are exposed to the elements and are sealed. Reason for them being screwed together

OK - so i am still foggy as to how to remove the front amber ones.  Do I disconnect the unit on the inside of the fender and pull outward /away from the car or do I have to un-screw the screws on the back side and pull inward.   Things are super dirty in there and I couldn't really determine what hardware was actually on the back side.

Go in behind the fender, there's four bell nuts (if still original) two hold on the whole assembly, and the two smaller ones just hold the light assembly.

Unplug the light, remove the two smaller nuts and pull only light assembly off of the car.

On the bench.....you'll find two Phillips screws that hold the amber lens on, remove them to get at the bulb.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !
