At least both drivers will recover. And the front clip and at least some interrior parts can be salvaged, Wrencher it would be worth while looking into buying the car as salvage/parts. Wonder if it was a BB car?

I'm not sure.  I've thought about contacting him about buying the salvage but I'm not sure that would be very well received right now.  If the car had comp/collison ins, the ins company will probably salvage it thru their network.

I am glad to hear that everyoe involved is going to be OK.  What a shame for such a thing to happen to such a beautiful car.  It makes me feel sick inside!

I want to know how fast the girl was going, as it would take alot of force to rip an old steel car in half like that....

Would a set of welded-in sub frame connectors have helped minimize the damage?

anyhting would help , a 35 year old frame may have been weakened by now as well depending on the climate it was in

That`s too bad but at least he`ll recover. The 19 yr old inexperienced driver caused the accident,NOT the SUV.My wife and I have been driving SUV`s for a lot of years now and not even one close call.Obviuosly an accident can happen to anyone but it`s all in how you drive them.

I agree with torredcuda. I have a ram 3500. I am well aware of how easy it is for the back end to break out on you. I adjust my speed and driving to suit the road conditions. Speed is always a factor. If the road was noted for bad potholes then she should have been driving slower.

:iagree: with torredcuda completely. We have our share of those type of accidents happen in the Atlanta area :boxer:

I'm glad Mason Dixon is on the road to recovery and is in such good spirits considering the way his Chally looked.

People drive SUVs like they're just regular cars.  They're not only unsafe in emergency maneuvers, but their 4000-6000lb curb weights make them the perfect killing machines.

Drive a car (Subaru or other AWD for up north), minivan, or truck.  I see no use for SUVs.   :boxer:

I don't see folks driving trucks nearly as much as SUVs.  'specially womenfolk.

People have basically replaced cars w/SUVs, whether they need them or not.

the reason people replace cars with suv's is because they think it will minimise the damage in a crash, when all it really does is transfer the damage to the other car, so it does make the passengers in the suv safer at the expense of the people in the smaller car, not only is this disturtbingly selfish, if everyone had an suv, it wouldnt work, both drivers will have the same safeness in their suv than smaller cars, therefore we would be back to square one, except with a whole lot more reasons

i have no problem with people who have a legitimate reason to drive an suv, i also believe in freedom of choice in what to drive, but often people (especially women) get into suv's and think their bulletproof, and that kind of attitude is what gets people killed (among other things)
