Was my CUDA the last one made... ??
« on: June 23, 2005 - 11:21:00 AM »
BS23L4B336441

I ordered it during the gas shortage in spring of 1974.
A few weeks went by & the salesman called me to tell me that
they quit making CUDAs, & to come back for my deposit.
A few days later he calls back & asks me if I want one made, as they
have enough parts left to make the one I ordered. He said it would be
missing a few items, but that once the car came in, they would see what
was missing & order them thru the parts department. It came in the way
that I ordered it, & missing little things like the dome light cover, ashtray ect.

Thanks,
Dave

Very interesting.  Some more details on the car??  I just sold a 360 auto that was 293832 built 2/01 and still have a numbers 360 4 speed that is 294836.  If not the last, I would certainly say close to it.

I ordered it Black with a white interior, 4speed, $3,600 to have it built my way
Hay, it was my 1st new car, & I loved Black ,
but thought if I ordered it with a white interior, I would be forced to be careful,
to not get it dirty. HAHA, it was a pain to keep clean.

No, I was cleaning out an old box today & found the fender tag. I had removed the tag when I had the car repainted true blue B5, the same color as a 1971 HEMICUDA 4speed with leather car I once owned too. I ran into the guy that has the 1974 maybe 5 years ago & at that time he told me that it was probaby the last one made. I would like to give him this fender tag if anyone knows him ??
Now the 1971 HEMICUDA I got in early 1977 for $5,000, I sold to a racing buddy, Roy Crownover, from Latrobe PA, in late 1977 for $8,000. It is a B5 true blue 4 speed shaker car, with black leather. Speedo was disconnected at 426 miles.I have'nt seen it since 1977, & I heard that Roy hasn't moved it from his garage since I sold it to him. Yes, he knows what it's worth,  as a year or two after I sold it to him, I heard he was offered $125,000 for it. It's probaby a million dollar car today.

Would you consider selling it to get a "more desirable" car (or three)?  :dontknow:  :D

You mean would he, Roy Crownover, be willing to sell it ??
I wouldn't know.
Try a search for him in Latrobe PA. Maybe you'll get lucky ?

NO one would offer anyone 125k for a hemi cuda in 1979, Im met a guy in phoenix with a 70 hemi challenger convertible they paid 12,500 for the car in 78 or 79 and he said they over paid.  you probably got a very good price for it in 77, remember it was just an 8 year old used car.

Restored its worth more than that today, million dollars   I doubt that maybe 1/4 million or 300k. maybe

there is a guy from Alaska with a registry who might put your name on a list if the owner comes up, or try govier. or another registry
