So, is this the filter that would have been used by the dealers when they changed oil?  Weren't the assembly line filters green?

I believe yes. there was a version that also had the L72 with a red and blue logo. They superseded back and forth. not sure what the exact color was production, black with yellow or the green.
But this is what's available now as a correct replacement.

the early 67-71 blue filter would have evolved into the 70's logo as pictured. which according to mopar listed the 1851658 myi 1958 to myo 1982

I for one would rather a Red/White and Blue being reproduced and I think price point is still a bit too high.

I understand. But to be correct for the OE judging classes. The blue and white would be the correct service filter up to 71. the all white with the square 70'S red and blue mopar was somewhere in 71 to 76 ish, then it went to a shorter version in white before changing numbers and going gray. the white with the red and blue logo is in the works.
Price is subjective.... Small run quantities don't warrant a 10.00 filter price + licensing + the kissy box.
