Front Dash Center Speaker Wires or Seat Belt Warning Light?
« on: September 30, 2016 - 07:58:44 PM »
For my front dash center speaker, I took out the OEM speaker and the original speaker wires that were attached.

There was another set of wires that pulled out from behind the speaker but I'm not sure what they belong to???  I can't see where they originate from.

Does anyone have any ideal what these wires are for?  Could it be for the Seat Belt Warning Light?  I taped up the terminals (look like speaker ends) but they were uncovered before.

According to "my mopar wiring diagrams" there's 2 dark blue wires that go to the seat belt warning light.

Thanks John.  I pulled my Seat Belt Warning Light and there it goes!

But my light doesn't seem to work :(  although I do have power on the line.

I'll have to figure out but at least I know what those wires are.

My ideas:
Hook that seat belt light to the reverse lights for an idiot light in your face.
No one still has that warning and start prevention hooked up do they? I call that the imposed Nixon circuit. That bastard even screwed up Mopar wiring! I think the interiors seat and carpet quality got crappy at the same time they imposed the seat and belt wiring.
I have a switch for the engine compartment lights in that hole now. The fader knob hole, has a switch for the tach and the floor shifter lights. So they can be switched when the parking lights are off. And (might as well say) the blank spot on the headlight panel has the electric fuel pump switch.
Next, I'll hook my reverse light to the old, line lock red light next to the e- brake release. For an idiot light that can't be ignored.

FYI my recollection was that it was a regulator change (NHTSA), not a law signed in by Nixon.  I could be wrong but I don't think he gets to take the blame for interlocks.  That was the bureaucrats at the agency, and they did it very late in the prep cycle for '74 cars, meaning the makers didn't have enough time for proper design and testing.

And I remember the damn things.  Set your dog or some groceries on the seat and the car won't start unless you buckle the belts for that seat.  Stupid.  Right up to par with many bureaucrat created .gov regulations.
