finally own my 1971 Cuda' again.
« on: September 30, 2016 - 08:28:34 PM »
Hello from Akron, Ohio I finally bought back my 1971 Cuda' that has basically sat and has only 462 miles on it since I sold it back in 1990. Here are some of the spec's... factory 1971 Cuda 340, 4 speed, Billboard, Shaker, EV2, Road Lamps, Center Console, manual steering & Manual Brakes. I added the go wing and rallye dash back in 1990. I plan on a complete Rotisserie restoration eventually but I just finished a Duster and promised the Wife I wont start on this a while but never said I wouldn't start to buy parts for it. I look forward to using the knowledge of the members so I can get this car restored correctly and as accurately as possible.

Looks too nice to restore.  If it's original leave it as such--they are only original once.

It's a Maaco paint job from 26 years ago and the entire underside needs stripped of the heavy undercoating and redone. I agree it does look nice in these pics.

That car is gorgeous! Can we have more details on the sale and re-purchase. It sounds like a geat story.

Duster looks sweet as well ... looks somewhat familiar ... didn't I see it somewhere for sale?? :clueless:

Actually I haven't listed it anywhere for sale yet, Mopar collectors is getting ready to run the story and pictures taken at the Nationals this year and I asked Randy if he can add that it is for sale. So it is for sale but I officially advertised it yet.

OK ....well I bought the car right after getting out of the Air Force and was also going through a divorce back in early 1990. The car was my therapy back then and working on it got me through a lot of "did I make the right decision moments". I ended up selling the car later due to financial reasons. Fast forward about 8 years and I found myself thinking a lot about that car and tracked down the guy I sold it to, he had moved out of town by then. We kept in touch for about the last 18 years and I told if he ever sold it I would love to buy it back. The Monday after this years Mopar Nationals I called him to catch up and out of the blue he said he was going to sell the car and I was first in line. Needless to say, I bought the car.... but it wasn't easy financially since I just sank a ton of money into the Duster but I couldn't let the opportunity slip away. Now that I have it again It's here to stay.

Does the cuda retain it's fender tag or build sheet?

Sweet ride!  Doesn't get much better than ev2 4spd billboards

You need to pay attention (where's that poking the bear icon?)... He mentioned the Tag/Tags? were missing the first time he owned the car & he has the sheet....
