New guy with no muscle
« on: October 06, 2016 - 01:06:59 PM »
Greetings!  I have long loved muscle generation cars but never had the room to store one.  That may soon change.  Cudas were always my favorite!  Being 41 years old, I can still remember seeing them on the road as a kid.  I love anyone from 70 to 74.  I know absolutely nothing about restoring a car and I don't know really what angle to approach getting a cuda.  But I will figure it out and enjoy every minute of it.  Looking forward to browsing the board!

So as luck would have it, I had to drive about an hour out of town today to go to a certain bank.  Parked on the side of the road was this!

It's by nothing.  Just a few cars on the side of the road.  No for sale sign.  It was last inspected in 2012 and the sticker on the plate is 2013.  I don't know any specs on it of course.  What are the chances of this happening :)

That doesn't look to bad, mostly complete. How is the interior? Can you do your own body work, like body panel replacement?

Well, I was able to dig up some info on the car.  The inside didn't have a back seat.....only speakers.  The car has been sitting for 5 years and the owner won't sell.  Not sure why you would just let it sit there and decay.

I don't know a thing about body work.  But I am sure I could find someone to work on it.  Doesn't matter though, it's a dead lead.  :(

Welcome from CO!  Some words of advice:  Set a budget, be realistic of your skills and time to restore a car, set a direction (OEM stock, Day II muscle, pro-tour, etc), and buy a car in the best possible condition you can afford.  Everything Mopar are 3-4x the price of Cheby and Ferds, so know what you want and be patient as the right car will come along.

Thanks for the advise!  I really couldn't repair much myself.  But I can a mean wax job :). I want to find something pretty original.  Doesn't have to be the fastest and I don't want to be afraid to drive it either.
