Small rust holes

What would you guys do with this rust, (its after blasting) the rest of the area under the backseat is in good condition so I don't wanna replace the whole floorpiece. Should I try to fabricate a large piece to cover all of it, or divide it up in smaller sections? Its kind of a tricky shape to make up. I think its to thin and pitted to just weld up the holes, but I don't know.

Depends on the quality of the restoration you want. There is "liquid metal" fillers out there that would take care of small holes like that, or turn down your mig welded and try welding them

Don't wanna use any fillers, I want a good professional nice looking repair, and I dont think I can weld in that pitted area, I guess the only way is to fabricate the patch myself.

If you can get a piece of copper up tight/flat against the hole from behind, then use a mig to fill in the holes. Weld won't stick to the copper and it will make a sort of mold for the weld. Nothing to loose by trying.
They so sell "copper spoons"  for this purpose.

Thanks, I will try that first. I did that on a few screwholes in the engine bay, works well, but I used a TIG though. Maybe a combination, replace a square where its really thin and pitted and fill the holes that are surrounded by thicker material.

That wouldn't be bad to make probably 3 patches and butt weld them in. Migging up the holes is not going to work as the metal near the holes is going to be thin as well. You'll have a heck of a mess and it would be ugly to grind on the other side to make it look decent. No matter what you do cleaning up the underside will be the hard part of the repair.

I've had numerous holes on the inner fender of the engine bay to plug and have used a copper backer to help fill them. Since I'm not an experienced welder, I get most of the hole filled but still end up with pin holes around the plug, very frustrating. Good luck with your repair. Let us know how you fixed it.

Will do, I will put this -73 away until my -70 is done though, so it will be a while. I'll start a resto thread on this later. Got some of those holes in my 70 also, not this much though, gonna start welding soon.
