Exhaust tip hangars on 72 Challenger
« on: October 07, 2016 - 10:45:30 PM »
Can anyone please post a picture of the exhaust tip hangars on a 1972 Challenger? I need to know what exactly I need and how they attach.

Thanks!

Ok, after more research and looking through the parts I have I found these which appear to be half of what I neet to hang the tips. Does anyone have good pics of the metal part that slips into these and attaches to the exhaust clamp holding the tip to the tail pipe? Also if someone could post some measurements of the missing metal piece so I could possible fabricate a couple of them? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Those appear to be B body tip hangers...  Similar to these....   http://www.accurateltd.com/Tip-Hangers-B-body-68-70-Pair-ACC-4007_p_224.html

Is your trunk floor original? If so, does it have holes in it for the hangers that 1 Wild R/T posted?

There was a recent thread about 74? Cuda hangers. They were similar to the picture you posted. There are a lot of differences that haven't been documented on the 72-74 cars. Most used the hanger that mounts to the trunk floor.

The 74 hangers are not similar to the ones he posted a picture of, I still have a set of those from a 74 360 car I parted back in the 90's.... Plus those started late in 73 not 72.....

burdar: Yes the trunk floor is original and yes it has the straps with the two studs that go down through the trunk floor although one of the studs is broken.

I ordered a set like the ones in the link 1 Wild R/T shared.

Thanks Guys!

Ok, I have received the new correct hangars. Now can someone post a pic or two of what they look like installed?

Does the "S" looking piece of metal that slides into the rubber mount connect to the U clamp that secures the tip to the tailpipe?

Thanks!

Oh, well I am using the Stainless Magnaflow system from Year One and there are no mufflers in that location so I will figure out how to attach it somehow.

Thanks!
