Best choice to fix or repair dash pad on 70 Challenger

They generally look ok from a distance or off the car.  I would definitely test fit before shipping overseas.
Mine looked great lying on the floor, in the car you can see the issues.
Don't get me wrong, it's not horrendous, but when you spend almost $1000 you expect a little better.

Makes sense to test fit the dash first (which does not work for me). Totally agree on what you are saying on that load of cash...
Well, guess i have to live with my home-fixed dashes.

I heard very good things about this company (they're in Sweden though) and I got a quote to redo my dash for $825. Seen pictures of their work, seems very nice. They also repair hard plastic parts and dashes, so there's gotta be a way to do it.

I repaired the crack in my dash myself. It's not like new but it's good enough for me 😉
I thought it would be harder, but it was quite easy and the result is perfectly alright.

With the Roseville replacement pad, I had to trim some foam at the AC vents and top speaker. After that, everything fits good. I do have the same issue at the lower corner of the instrument cluster that meets the trim piece but not very noticeable. Overall please with the pad and much better than a dash cap.

Will contact them but do you mind telling me what was included in the quote you got? Repair cracks only or redo the whole thing with new padding etc?

That was a complete resto on the dashpad. Quote was about a year and a half ago.
Guys name is Tony and he said he did about a hundred Mopar dashpads with no complaints.

From members that have bought one, steel vs abs core, does it matter?

Steel core all the way.
ABS cores look all warpy in the vent area and every screw will strip out on you....like the speaker grill and other trim.

Warpy in The windshield vent area or a/c vent? From 1-10, 10 being warpy like a  potato chip, how bad is it?

Is there a steel core option anywhere in the $500 range other than a dash cap? I really like that this one should be a short lead time and I don't have to send a core back and forth.

The screw stripping isn't a major concern, I can work through that.

FWIW I've seen a few of the plastic cores, in a cool climate they might be Ok, though hearing Alan's review makes even that a question mark.... In a hot area like where I live... (And Texas) the pad distorts pretty bad.... I see it as two options... Buy a plastic core pad $500... A couple years later buy a steel core pad... Total investment $1600.... Or just buy the steel core pad & keep $500 in your bank....

Buying a steel core dash from DashPadPros.com, is it best to go through their site? Has anyone had issues with their core not being received or poor communication? Online reviews seem to be all over the place.
