Thanks Brad. I've got to give you a call. Pick your brain on that alternator install options. I've got to think that one out good and need some help and experience.

Got the new starter installed.   Was wondering when first "f-me" PIA moment was going to come .... it has.  No need for boring details but I learned how to disassemble then assemble a solenoid totally blind with my finger tips.   And re-attach to the starter.  :smilielol:

Learned you can't re-tap a bolt hole in 20F temp on a concrete floor with no ability to get a 90 degree angle on it.  No matter how hard you really, really want to.    :roflsmiley:   And on.  And on.   But it should be fine until I can get it on the lift and fix the top bolt properly.   Or maybe its just fine now.  Who knows.   :working:

It bumps over fine.  Sounds like starter is tight and alignment is good.

Hopefully get some fuel in it before a months break ... work getting in way again!!!   :villagers:   :smilielol:

Try get some pics this weekend.

Sounds like you may have done the same thing I did with the top starter bolt recently .
I gave that top bolt just one more slight turn and ugh,  I stripped the threads .
I have not checked it recently but I have thought about drilling completely through and using a through bolt and nut on it .
No  problems starting but I probably just jinxed myself .

Ya.  Pretty much what I did.  Surprised ... it seems pretty soft.  I guess the larger bolts/studs you don't need 100 ft lbs. ...   :smilielol:

Only thing I have to check is to see if backside will fit a nut and lock washer (or nylon nut).  May have to grind a small bit ... no biggie though.

No jinx.

We've been spending past few weeks trying to decide on motor build to get her to 10.0 second index racer. Which means you really want her capable of ~9.7 seconds.  The SB wasn't going to do it. Not without very expensive heads and machining and a power adder to boot. (And still push the internals hard).

So ... long story short on the decision trip > 383 stroked to 431, Ross pistons, H beam rods, Scat 4340 crank, Trick Flow heads,  Harland rocker arms, custom Bullet cam, solid roller, Melling oil pump, and Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT intake.

To finish off: Meziere relocated (radiator mounted) water pump, 170 amp Mechman alternator, and Fuel Tech 5.0 EFI (rail).  Also will take look at trans (refresh prob) and install JW ultra bell SFI on trans.

We're on biz travel until early February and rotating assembly is 4 weeks out on order.  So will be slow for while but should be back with pics soon.

Goal is to be able to hit track by end April. Gonna stay on progress hard!!  Test runs let us know if some cal-tracs are final icing. Lol
