What you have here is a later model AFB..a 9000 series carb..AKA carter competition carb. Its an EGR compatible carb, 625 CFM, Mopar type carb. The model # brakes down like this...9000 series, 625 cfm...add 10 to the part # for EGR, add an additional 1 for Mopar...Chevy adds 0, ford adds 2. a ford carb of this type would be a 9637, chevy 9635. non EGR would be...Mopar 9626, Ford 9627, Chevy 9625.
Hope this helps....you have an aftermarket Carter there...AFB based.
I'd say its a good choice for a street driven fairly stock 340...rebuild it, set it up by the book and you should be fine.
