New guy to the forum
« on: October 13, 2016 - 11:39:32 AM »
Just a little information about myself, I'm from northern Ontario Canada, have owned a 1974 charger 383, sold it, stupid move, owned a 1973 challenger, lost it in a divorce, 😖, last summer I picked up a 1960 Chevrolet Impala, it was originally sold not too far from where I live, upon further investigation we found out that my fiancees great uncle owned the dealership at that time and sold the car, not too bad for finding the car 8 hrs south of us. Not a power house due to the straight 6 235 that's in it, so I was looking for muscle and love for mopars we know that my fiancees uncle had a 1974 challenger that was for sale but really wasn't because he didn't really want to sell it, hounded him for 4 months and finally got to him, he wanted to get an appraisal, he did, we found out what it was appraised at and with cash in hand we went to pressure him again. After a few discussions about the car the ownerships were in my hand. It was originally a 318 car, they blew the motor out of it 30 years ago and parked it in a garage and that's where she stayed. There are a few things that have yo be done to it, so I'll get those done before finding a 360 motor and stroking it.

Thanks everyone, from Timmins, you know, home of Shania Twain, lol, that's how most people know where Timmins is, I have a cousin that lives in Barrie, I lived there for a bit as well. It was a definite lucky find, that's why I hounded the guy like I did, only about 110% better condition than the one I lost in the divorce. Few things that have to be done, a pillar mouldings are dried right out, front seats have rips in the seats, already sourced out a new set of seats in town, somebody painted the engine compartment black, going to strip all of that and paint in back orange, top cowl for the firewall is a little soft in spots, going to go in for closer look this weekend, headliner is stained, bought a new one, looks like a cat or some other critter got onto the vinyl top and did some stretching on it, bought a new one, didn't have the rear valance with the cutouts, plus it was not in great shape, bought one with the cutouts, hopefully get some work done this weekend, can't say before the snow flies because we had a couple of inches yesterday. Will post pics of the progress, thanks again everyone.
