What size cable do you guys use on the Welding Cable?

You'll get lots of answers...

IMHO, from building these products for people.  Go big on the starter and ground cables.

With the battery in trunk, the run is long and voltage drop is a real issue.  I never build a cable smaller than 1/0.  Those budget  kits that come with a 2ga cable...  barely adequate.  Get a decent engine with some compression, on a hot day and your killing that cable/starter/battery with amp draw.

These are cable that going overkill is NEVER a bad thing.

Using welders cable, you can also include a welders cable twist dis-connect (in the trunk).

As for location, take advantage of the location BEST if you have set of 4-wheel scales... you can easily see how the location changes the 4-wheel corner weights.   Originally, I installed the battery above the axle... then later relocated it to the pass-side rear corner as it helped with the 4-wheel corner weight distribution.... scales can become another tool to have in our collection!

I use #1awg motor lead cable. Similar to welding cable-bit better quality I think, and more flexible. Bigger wire is always better for current, but going too big and you run into connector/stud size/clearance issues. For example, try to get a lug for 2/0 cable with a 5/16 stud size. Not easy to find and if you find one, it will be rather large to fit onto your starter.  :2cents:

Not sure if I can post this but I got a lot of the terminal connectors and slugs from this site: https://www.genuinedealz.com/ Dealt with them when modifying my jon boat a few years back and they always have great prices and fast shipping.

I can put a 15' 1/0 battery cable out of EPDM welding cable (good stuff) together for about $65-70.  EPDM has a better insulation on it that standard welding cable.  EPDM deals better with oil.  Some of the prices I've seen for just raw wire are pretty out there, >4.50/ft.

Guys, I'm looking at putting my battery in the trunk on my Cuda, I see most mount them on the right side, probably due to the jack location, and the fact that there is 200Lb of driver on the left, are there any pro's and con's with either side? the left side makes for a cleaner install getting wires to the front to some degree,,,, any thoughts??

The Moment or Summation of Forces in the X, Y and Z Axis (assuming Counter Clockwise Positive) are equal to the Cross Product of Distance R X F, or R cross F.

For the Win, go for the Right Side.
