Another amp gauge question
« on: October 13, 2016 - 10:51:47 PM »
I read on Year One's description of their reproduction amp gauge that it is made with modern electronics. Does that mean that it will not have all the problems we read about being a fire hazard, engine failure and wiring harness burnout?
I am not trying to start a war but my gauge has quit and I have a new (reproduction) and I am trying to decide what to do.

I would buy a volt gauge from redlinegaugeworks.com. They look stock and actually give you helpful information unlike the amp gauge.

All the electrical power is still being pushed through that one wire in the firewall connector which is still not the best design...especially if you added accessories or a high output alternator. Not to mention the possibly still original wiring.

If it is still a full flow ammeter,  it still has the main safety hazard.  A loose or dirty connection can cause a fire.
