71' Cuda 340 Shaker base/support help needed
« on: October 15, 2016 - 04:35:01 PM »
I have a question or two about the "Shaker" base on my recently re-purchased 1971 Cuda'. I am trying to buy correct parts that the car should have had and I just got my shaker support legs for a 340, the description read that these sit on the intake manifold and bolt to the base. The only way to get these to work is to bolt them to the heads where the heater hose bracket goes (if it's the correct bracket) and where the Negative battery cable goes but then the brackets angle out slightly. So my questions are:
1) Do I have the right base for a 340 ?
2) If yes to the first question, are my brackets correctly mounted ?
3) If No to the first question, I assume it has to be for a 383 since that's the only other single 4BBl available in 1971 ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Looks like the right base and the right brackets, but those are good questions. I've only restored one factory 340 shaker and it was always missing those brackets :2cents:
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

It may be 100% correct but to me it just looks wrong where the negative cable bolts down and the heater hose bracket and Shaker leg will not be able to occupy the same space, so then what supports the heater hoses ?
