71 Cuda' 340 "By Plymouth" emblem help
« on: October 15, 2016 - 04:44:16 PM »
I noticed that the majority of 1971 Cuda's have the small rectangular "By Plymouth" emblem under the larger Cuda' emblem on the taillight panel. When I looked inside  the trunk of mine Car at the back side of the panel I noticed that there were no holes for the emblem, Could my car be correct and never had that emblem placed there ? My car has a coded build date of 4-30-1971 and was built at the Hamtramck plant.

Nope...your car should have it. Probably had the tail panel changed when the accident happened. :2cents:

Damn, another piece that's missing. I didn't see that anyone was reproducing those or did I overlook them. There is some think going on with the trunk but the majority of it seems to be original, I'll know more when I blast it down to bare metal, someone also did some crappy frame reinforcement that needs to be fixed but I knew that 26 years ago when I owned the car the first time.

Ohio car as far back as I have been able to go so far which was about 1985 time frame. The other rear frame rail is really nice and both fronts will need minor metal work. I'm going to get out the cut off wheel in a week or so and carefully remove the repair and see what's under there.

The car needs to be dismantled 100%, sandblasted down to bare metal and start from there. If you're going to do it, do it right :2cents:

Funny Story..... but true, I was in the back of the garage today and looked up and saw the emblem I just asked about stuck into a shelf I placed there 26 years ago. One of the tabs is broken half way off but with some 3M two sided tape I can make it work until something better comes along.
