A01 Light Group Question
« on: October 16, 2016 - 10:19:44 AM »
The A01 light group has a little timer relay plugged into it which allows the light to go off after a certain time period. Are they available new ?
If they're bad would the flood lights stay on ? or not work ? Mine are staying on.

Thank you, I tried several searches with no luck....Problem is, I don't know if that's my problem because I've tried two so far with the same results.....the lights stay on.

Here's a new thought that just came to me...
Wonder if.....The car needs to be running or for the key to be cycled ?

The lights come on when the battery is hooked up....I close the doors and wait for the light to go out, but they don't.

Common failure... If you unplug the timer/delay relay & the lights go out chances are the timer is bad... But you should test first.. Three wires, obviously you have power so that one is good, the power gets to the lights so that one is good.... Control signal is from the door switches & it should have continuity to ground when the door is open & it should not have continuity when the doors are closed.... Either door switch, the dash dimmer or the wiring can create a path to ground...

Lights go out when I remove the relay for sure...I'll get at the other tests this week....Also wondering if I plugged the A01 harness correctly into the main harness, without looking...I would guess it went into the tan wire three outlet connector.

Fixed....
First off, I was wrong last night, the harness should be plug into the pink triple connector which it was. I had it installed correctly.
So I took apart a relay, cleaned the contacts with emery paper, and now it works fine :2thumbs: Simple.

I put a new bulb in the map light and it works great with the door switches, but shouldn't you be able to switch it on while the doors are closed ?

No, if you need to look at a map at night while driving down the road, you have to open one of the doors.  :eek4:
