Two 680 cfm fans?  That is not much air flow  That is about half what you need

:swear: :swear: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Well ran it again got up too 210, 215 220 230 240 radiator cap vented i shut it down. The radiator is flowing good i think i just need to upgrade the fans. they offer and upgrade from the 680 to 1350. hopefully that does the trick. it is a four core 26" rad so there is plenty of cooling surface just need more air. Or i am missing something

There is a ton of friction on a new engine that will turn into extra heat. Try misting the radiator with a water hose and complete the break in.

it sounds awesome just running hot. i actually have one regular gauge and the MSD EFI readout has a water temp with its own sensor as well. they are within 5 degrees and the MSD is the lower of the 2.

I'm sure it's running hot on break in, this situation is very common. Use a garden hose and spray mist into the radiator, the water will carry out the excess heat.

i am going to order the 1650 CFM fans in the morning and try again tomorrow. if needed i will try the misting technique. jus not keen on hosing down everything.  :roflsmiley:

I hear you! Just a light mist is all that's needed! Cold water works wonders in this case, good luck! :2thumbs:

I used a box fan in front of the car and cold water garden hose over the rad on the breakin I just did and it helped a lot - especially the cold water over the rad. Bit messy but worth it

Those two fans are way too small.  I also disagree with the tight engine...a properly built, properly clearanced engine with modern rings should not be tight and the rings which are the only point of real contact outside of the lifters should be seated within about 5 minutes of start up...

Put a big fan in front of the radiator as suggested while you are waiting on some decent sized fans :)

I believe there is some friction generated between the piston skirt and cylinder wall as well, especially on a stroker engine. Do your pistons have a friction reducing coating on them like Moly-Coat or similar? Do you know what your static compression ratio is? The water mist cooling method is just temporary of course, a permanent solution will hopefully be in increasing the airflow through the radiator.

No I did not have the skirts coated and I should be at 10.0 something : 1. we used a compression program but I used a thinner cometic head gasket( .027) then initially planned. I Wanted to keep her on pump gas but get as high compression as I could.

I would pull a spark plug and check for a very lean condition, if it's white jet up a couple on numbers.

The MSD EFI has a A/F gauge built in and I also have an wideband from auto meter installed. sitting pretty at 14.  But I will pull them and check anyway.   :bananasmi Bonus just got a text from Fed Ex my new fans are at the house. HMMM not feeling so good all the sudden....COUGH....COUGH.   Guess I will have to leave work early today.

   :bananasmi :bananasmi  So i installed the Fans and ran a full 30 min with no temp over 218 then she settled down to around 205 and idles at 195 at 3000rpm a nice 208. that was running for a while at that rpm. I am so relieved, oil pressure, A/F looked awesome. MSD has out done themselves with their system.  the idls want to be around 750 800 or it trys to flip my engine stand it sounds like a frikin animal.  :woohoo: :woohoo: Thanks for all the help now time to throw on the new TTI headers and let her run some more!! :working:

The specs look good! Change oil and filter after the break in. Cut open the oil filter with snips or a filter cutter and check the filter media for some added assurance. That's the report card! :2thumbs:
