Distributors are dinosaurs
« on: October 18, 2016 - 07:53:18 PM »
Engineers for the Mopars are seriously laggin behind. What used to be a stator and rotating pick up could reduced to one quarter the size of a dime. You need 7MM, 8MM and now 9MM plug wires, hotter spark plugs not buying it. I love our ICE, (Internal Combustion Engines). What would happen if I reversed the intake ports with the exhaust ports. Cooler air from the wheel well, negative space available to gulp big air then mellow to an idle with a .533 cam. I am just not buying Status Qou. I need an electronic iginition that reacts to my throttle.

so what is the main question you want answered?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

So... the distributor is about 4mm in diameter? Can you post up a link? Scale model kits don't count.

if you had a dime sized distributor you would never fire. you would have arcs all over the place and it would never got to the plug you wanted. If you are concerned with size use coil packs.  :2cents:

ummm...well...ummm... Dude, look I don't mean to be rude, but nobody knows what the hell you are talking about.

Can you please look at your original post and redraft a coherent question, or maybe there are two in there, I am not sure and repost it.  Then maybe we can help you out.

Thanks,

Jason

There is actually several diesel engines out there that run that way. makes putting a turbo in the valley much easier.

Yeah but that was done with flat head motors and there was a done of work (epoxy filling) to get that point. Additionally you had to do a TON of sonic checking. So no small feat.

I am not laughing, nor have a read the article, but it sounds interesting.

But if that is what the OP is looking to do, how would anyone really know that from his post, or the title for that matter.

Sounds like the OP is trying to think outside the box, which is great, but as said above, this has all been done before. You tube diesel hemi. Now that's outside the box.

No doubt distributors are pretty much dinosaurs these days....but the whole I.C.E. concept is headed that way....any politician can tell you that so you have to pick a deeper topic to trip on :)

Long live the T-Rex!
