New old guy here
« on: October 26, 2016 - 07:24:51 AM »
At the present time I'm without my left hand. Ok, I sold my 70 Challenger a few months ago. It was like my left hand and I'd had it since it was new. 440, 4 speed with a 6;71 on top and an 850 on a Crager sidesaddle mount. All under the hook. It scared corvettes and most everything else on the highway. So why did I sell it? A friend of mine, a far younger friend, I might add, has been pestering me to buy it for years. He had deep pockets. The price he offered had lint mixed in so i sold it.

So what am I doing here? I was reminiscing over the old Chrysler kit cars and saw a thread looking for information on them. Since I'd built several of them back in the day, I came for a look see.  So I could PM the guy asking I had to register. I have a lot of the old kit car books and all of the Chrysler drag racing cook books. I also have a lot of cross reference material from Chrysler racing to junk yard parts. I guess information is all i have to offer at this point. That and 30 years of racing Chrysler cars on dirt and a few road courses.

Just another old fart looking for somewhere to spend a little time.

Somewhere around here are a couple of the Duster. I've never got around to scanning any of the others.

Hmmmm, looks like I'm going to have to do some research on posting images.

Welcome!  Great story!  If you bought the car new, then clearly you are older than me!  I was 6 when my convertible was born . . . A little young to be buying a car!  Matchbox maybe . . . . Sounds to me like you will fit right in around here . . . Posting pictures is not that hard, just need to size them correctly and post away!  Sad that you sold you car  . . .  :drunk:

I was in my early twenties and fresh out of the Marines. I retired a few years ago after 40 some odd years in the oil fields. I'll make 70 in a few months, which is odd since i was the guy voted to never live to see 21 by my high school classmates.

Yeah, I need to look at that size thing and then find a place to host my pictures since i don't see a way of posting directly from my HD.

The old gal spent more time in the garage than was good for her. I'd take her to town ever so often so i could scare the police chief. Good thing he and I are good friends. I sure could quieten down the local Sonic on a Friday night. I think some of those rice burners actually peed when i drove through with the dumps open. The whine off the blower turned a lot of heads since nothing stuck up through the hood.

I'm not "over the hill" because if I was I would be repeating myself, then I would be repeating myself.

I'm about 60 miles north of Houston.

That last drop in oil prices pretty much retired me whether i wanted to or not.

Being over the hill makes the walking so much easier except for the slick spots.
