Front inner fender protection

Probably a real easy question for you guys, but my 73 cuda has never had any inner fender wheel well inserts so I always assumed they just never came with it. Now that I've spent thousands of dollars on body work and paint, my time and all, I have started wondering what is going to stop a rock or other debris from putting a big ol f_ _ _ _ ing dent on my front fenders. :faint. So are inner fenders available or what are you guys doing to prevent that from happening. Or are we just hoping that doesn't happen?

I was thinking of that not that long ago, I think I will make something out of plastic or something at some point. but since it will never see rain I put a strip of dynomat there I am sure it wont be as good as a shield but it may be ok.

I shot the inside of my fenders with bedliner. One could roll it or brush it as well...

That's why all cars got undercoating in the wheel wells. It dries hard and protects the fenders/quarters from rock hits.

That looks really good, what kind of primer did you use? Does it need a top coat? Can you paint over bedliner at all?

I went over EDP coating, but have shot the same stuff over Epoxy as well. It does not need a topcoat and can be bought in black or tintable.

My interior is shot over Epoxy and is tinted Lemon Twist. It is serving as a sound barrier, some additional rigidity to the floor, and a bit of thermal insulation.

I used U-POL Raptorliner. So far I have nothing but good things to say about it.

My inner fenders are also done with bed liner. So do you think that is sufficient to stop the damage that a rock might cause. I was wondering if anyone might have figured out another cars inner fenders that could be modified to provide some protection. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing but it sure looks vulnerable under there.

I don't have plans on doing anything different. If it was the same stuff in a truck bed, I wouldn't worry about stuff getting banged on it there as well. Bedliner can be pretty tough stuff...

I am faced with the same problem as my inner fenders are finished as well as the topside is. I am going to spray them with the Duplicolor clear bedliner spray. It comes in aerosol can.  I can keep the beauty of the inners with protection

I wouldn't say it's 100% correct, but it's close enough for me. The Raptorliner comes in a tintable version, where you can add 10% basecoat to it and shoot.

I think the base was mixed without binders and something else per the instructions.

Do Cudas not have a brace in the middle of the wheel opening like Challengers? Or did you remove yours?

I wish I still had the catalog, but I could swear that JC Whitney used to catalog ABS wheel well liners for many/most American cars back in the '70s.  GM had red ones as a factory option but these were after market, and I know they had Chrysler products listed because I remember almost ordering them for my Challenger.  Killed by the perpetual JC Whitney problem of costly shipping.  Probably not easy to find these days.

Liners for truck wheel wells seem to be commonly available online.  I wonder if any could be adapted for use on your car.
