Getting ready to install my Milodon oilpan on my 6.1 Hemi, I have the correct pickup and the oilstick, gonna switch 2 mailcap bolts to fit the new pickup, now Bouchillion told me to reuse the old bolts, but reading other posts it says that I DO need new bolts OR they are at risk to snap? Anyone has better info on that one? The bolts are cheap so I rather change them then worry about them snapping...

Do I need extra gaskets with it or does it have the gaskets "built-in", like the stock windage tray? The picture is kinda blurry but it looks like there is a cork gasket there... Whats best, a new windage tray or reuse the old one? Old one has a rubber gasket, made for the aluminum oilpan, maye the new Milodon tray is better with the steel pan? Where's a good place to order the main cap bolts? I have the part #'s. (Can't find them on Summit or JEGS)

The main bolts are torque to yield. Could they be reused? Probably. Should they? No. I ordered my main bolts from an online dealer, you local dealer will likely be cheaper after shipping.

The Milodon windage tray will require two Cork gaskets, one on each side. For my Milodon pan, I used a factory windage tray oil pan gasket and it needs a little extra RTV in one section.

If you decide you want the Milodon windage tray, I have one I will not be using and can cut a good deal on it.

You had to drill 2 extra holes in the stock windage tray right, why didn't you use the Milodon, is the stock one better? I gotta look at mine again and see if it looks like its gonna seal well.. Does the cork gaskets come with the Milodon tray? I asked Summit and they said from what they could see there was nothing else needed for installing that tray (that implies that the gaskets are included...)

Yes, I drilled two holes in the stock gasket. I am one that severely hates all gaskets made of cork. The factory style reusable gasket is far superior.

I bought the Milodon pan, pickup and windage tray second hand as a package deal. The previous owner put a cork gasket on one side, if I remember correctly. I am not sure if it comes with that gasket new.

There is a joggle in the gasket that you need to account for with RTV, toward the timing cover. It'll leak if you miss it.

This is a great post thank you, I am putting in a 2012 Challenger 5.7 and had same questions. So my question now is:

1. What bolt(s) part number did you end up using?
2. Assuming you used the factory windage tray? Was it already on the motor?
3. Assuming What factory part number gasket did you use?
4. Did you have to order the pickup tube as well?

2. Yes, I used the stock windage tray with rubber gasket and I used some black silicone in spots also.
3. Don't know the number on the windage tray/gasket, it was the one that came on the engine.
4. Yes, I ordered a new Milodon oil pickup from Bouchillion (way earlier) but it was the wrong type so I had to cut it and reclock it.
I got a Milodon 18341 and the correct one for my engine is a 18331.

In my resto thread there is pictures of the oil pickup problem I had.
If I understood it right you are using a 5.7 from 2012 in an e-body? If so you will need the 18341 oil pickup, mine was a 2006. The 18341 is for 2009-2017 5.7 Engine.

You're welcome.Can't you reuse the gasket you have? I think its the same on the newer engines, you just need to drill 2 new holes for the Milodon pan.

Not really, I learn as I go also. I was told by Bouchillion to reuse the bolts, but after reading a lot, I think its just dumb to do so since they don't cost much. I got 2 sets, wich was a good thing, just bought a 5.7 Hemi for my next project.

OK, so I finally got around to setting up the oil pan. First why 2 bolts for each? I used one for the main cap (stud with cap nut). Also, my pan bolts are long, but not too long, so they worked well. After drilling the two holes in the rear, I will need to go buy two more pan bolts. And the 'juant near the timing cover,' well its going to leak cause I don't see it.

And the next trick is the dip stick - um, where in the heck does this go? (please keep it G rated).

Just bought a 6.4 and am planning on doing the swap in the fall. Trying to collect everything i need before the swap to make things go as smooth as possible. Am planning on buying the Milodon 31003 race pan and the 18341 pickup. Most people suggest the windgate which is 32010. From reading this thread it appears I need to replace a few main cap bolts too. Can you guys tell me if I am missing anything and which gaskets to use to prevent leaks? It does not seem as any of you are to fond of the cork gaskets.
