Spark Plugs
« on: November 13, 2016 - 03:46:41 PM »
Trying to figure out what spark plugs to order for the 6.1Hemi. I had good luck with NGK plugs on all my big blocks.
NGK has the V power (4306), the G power (3381), the Laser Platinum(4998), and the Iridium IX (2314). prices are all over the place, from $35 for a set of 16 on e-bay to $224 for 16 of 4998 (Summit). Any recommendations?

I went with the cheap v power until I get the car tuned. Then I'll go to whichever is there factory plug.

Rockauto has some Champions on clearance, the last time I looked.

the 5.7 in my 300 uses NGK plugs from the factory, has the Mopar symbol on it with the NGK number. Amazon had a pretty decent deal for a package of 16 I think it was around $80

stayed with factory NGK PLZT R5A plugs on my SRT 6.1 charger. Replaced original plugs at 120k and they looked perfect and that was 30k over recommended replacement. The plugs have a self lubricating thread and were the easiest plugs  I have ever removed from an aluminum head. If I get another 120k miles on a set of plugs it will probably be the only set I ever replaced.

Inertia Motorsports recommended the V-power copper plugs as well.  So NGK-4306 is what I went with.  They are the cheapest too.  Here's some other info I found on the subject:

6.1 Hemi
NGK-4306 Copper Stock Heat Range 5
NGK-2315 (1 Step) Colder Heat Range 6
NGK-6510 (2 Step) colder Heat Range 7

Thanks guys, I was gonna buy them while I was in L.A, to avoid shipping, sales tax and custom fee's to Sweden, but I went to 4 different stores and no one had 16 plugs in stock of any of those. Have to order them later.
