Product Review !
« on: November 25, 2016 - 07:03:39 PM »
Today I installed a set of seat tracks for an E Body that I bought from PG Classics. This was a first for me and they left me very impressed  :worshippy

They came nicely painted, included the little yellow springs and and the cross-over wire was spot-on to the originals. However on some original seats the wire is longer on one side, these were both the same.

I give them a two thumbs up.... :2thumbs:  a little pricey, but better then buying rusty originals and taking the time to restore them... :2cents:

Thanks for the feedback.

Mine went bad and I need to get them.

Went to E bay to research these.

Mega Parts sells these for $104.00.

That's a huge difference vs. PG Classics.

Only difference was the big spring wasn't yellow and no cross over wire.
I can re use mine.

$237.00-$104.00 = $133.00

I can afford to buy a can of yellow paint.   :2cents:

Just an FYI, I had a different experience with PG on seat tracks.

I guess it's a crapshoot on what you get out of them.

I agree the shipping is insane and it takes forever, even when I get offers of 30%+ off I delete those emails.

I bet Mega parts gets them from PG's, I find it very hard to believe multiple parties would tool up for the same part  :clueless:

 :iagree:

Just doesn't make sense to buy from them if you are way out on the left coast.
You guys on the East coast it can work for you.

You can bet there's only one source.

Vansauto on ebay had them at $140.

I have an account with them so I get a discount and only live 4.5 hrs away from them. I order from them on Monday and it's on my door step Tuesday...

Only BS!@#$% is that they charge everything in US dollars regardless of the fact with both live in Canada....go figure that one out ! :swear:

Alan,

Stick with Dave at Roseville for most stuff.

Him and Megaparts are you're best bets.   :2cents:

If you go Shaker parts or manifolds, Shakerhood.com

Make sure you e-mail or phone for right now with Shakerhood.com

Thanks for the advice. I've been restoring cars for 32 years, longer then any of those guys have been in business...So I'm pretty sure I've got my "go-to-guys" pretty much figured out  :drunk:

Out of stock now.

Seems like all the listings on E bay dissapeared as well.
Except PG classics.

I bought a wood grain wheel set up a couple years ago from PG and I was extremely disappointed. There were flashings all around the spokes, the backside of the wheel looked awful, and the plastic (wood) was rough all along the backside. And it was not cheap in price either. Every time I drove the car, I was constantly reminded that I could have spent just a little more for a restored original and been much happier. I'm afraid to order from that company again.

I expect that many things are made in China and thats the way it is. I have noticed that sometimes stuff from China is nice and other times it is not. Even when it comes from the same supplier. I suppose it's the quality controls more than anything that some of the manufacturers need to work on. Good to hear nice things about PG. maybe they have improved and are worth another try. I'll wait to hear more good stories like yours though.
