Man, that's a mean looking car! I love the color - are you going to keep the paint as is? Probably too early to say, but what a beauty!

Thank you.  Yeah, I think I am going to keep the paint as is for now since it's not bad enough to change right now.  It's not by any means great but just where it's making me stay put and focus on other areas first.  I'm starting with the motor and trying to bring life into it.  Then, we shall see!  All I know is I'm having a blast with it so far.  :jumping:

The 440 stroker will have the most power & cost less
the 392 will make it driveable for sure & has warranty but do not order the kit , most of it will not work .
Dfrazz an guide you through the parts list , I can help do the install if you want .

Thanks Chryco.  Yeah, I have read up on Dfrazz's setup and what went into it.  It's awesome to do the 392 but I don't think I'm going to go that route for a number of different reasons.

What do you think about a stock bottom end 440 with the Trick Flow Top End Kit?  The Ported and Polished heads from Trick Flow are supposed to make some serious HP on a stock bottom end.  The numbers they quoted me for the 440 kit Trick Flow Offers will make 580hp+ on a stock bottom end.  I also posted about this in the Eddy RPM Performer Package thread.  The car will be used for street use only and quite honestly don't need much more power than 580hp.

I just put trick flows on my new stroked 505 build, love them so far!

Nice TWalker!  What cam & intake did you go with on your 505?  Did you go with the 440 source stroker kit?  I would love to know what kind of power you are getting out of your setup with the TF heads.  I'm sure pretty solid numbers.

Hey, went with -

440source stroker kit, 30 over
Holley street dominator intake
Proform 850 carb mechanical secondaries
Lunati voodoo cam and lifter, hydraulic flat
10230704LK
Harland roller rockers, S70015KE (check my thread on rockers if you go with trick flows, learn from what I found...)

Haven't had it on the dyno yet but so far, still breaking in, it's a beast

Nice setup!  I'm looking to build something very similar actually when the time comes.  I'm still debating on the stroker kit but with the amount of positive reviews I have heard about 440 source, I think I will go this route as well.  The cam I was considering was Lunati #10230703 for a stock bottom end but we shall see what I finalize and if I go the stroker route.  I'll look for your rocker thread since I will most likely be going with the TF heads.

Get a stroker kit and have a local,  reputable machine shop build it.

Plans for the body?  Same color?

Be sure to paint that engine compartment while the engine is out and NOT  flat black please.

Con't go with a crate engine off E-Bay.  You never know what your're going to get.  If you go a crate motor use a reputable outfit that has good reviews.  Personally, I'd have a local machine shop do your short block with a stroker.  My engine is very similar to 70 Cudafun

440 source 512 stroker, 30 over.
Holley dominator aluminum intake
Lunati voodoo cam and lifters, hydraulic flat
10230704LK
ProMaxx aluminum heads
Quick fuel 880 CFM carb
TTI headers.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Matching numbers 440 U Code, 4 speed pistol grip, Rallye dash, AM 8 Track, Shaker hood, 15 inch rallye wheels, Dana 60 4.10, Super Track Pak.  One of 134 - 440 "U" coupes codes built in 1970 and one of 100 - 440 Super Track Paks built in 1970.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I'm pretty surprised by the overall consensus of "going to a local guy" for a machine shop/engine builder.  I guess it makes sense to rely on someone locally who you can go back to if needed so this is most likely what I will end up doing.  I thought there would be more crate motor companies out there who would have capitalized on this demand but I guess not.

As far as plans for the body goes, I'm probably going to paint the car and go with B5 Blue.  Although Orange is REALLY growing on me since that is the current color, I think I will take it back to the B5 and of course paint the engine bay the same color at this point since the motor/trans is out.

Nice setup!  Yeah I crossed eBay off my list pretty quickly as far as crate motors go.  It seems like most go with the 440 source stroker kit and Lunati cam combo.  I think I'm probably going to go with the 512 stroker, 30 over, Lunati Voodoo cam, lifters and Trick Flow Heads.  As far as Carb goes, I'm really considering the FiTech system if I don't go with a Holley Double Pumper.  I'm so far away from considering the motor upgrades at this point so I'm just  :droolingbounce: for now.

My next purchase will most likely be the Rack & Pinion conversion kit from Unisteer since I decided to keep my torsion bar setup.  I love the RMS front end Alterkation kit  which comes with the whole shabang but it's just not going to happen now.

As many others have said, the goodies we add to these cars add up quick! :money:
