quarter window regulator

I have to replace the passenger side rear quarter window regulator on my 1970 barracuda.  QUESTION IS:  is there a difference between a 1970 unit and a 71-74 unit?  I have a friend that will give me a unit from a
1972 cuda.  I need to know if it will change out straight up?

While there might be subtle differences (i.e. rivets versus screws, etc) as there is with the glass assembly, no one will ever see the regulator.  Unless you are doing a concours restoration, no one will ever know. they should bolt right in.

Keep in mind Challenger and Cuda are really different and will not interchange.

Alan I agree that challenger is different but I was able to make challenger regs fit my cuda. The main difference is the stem length for the handle. I cut to shorten it to cuda length and welded the splined end back on.

  Well I guess you can make anything "fit" with a cutting torch and a welder.....

According to parts books the answer is yes. But as with many MOPAR facts, the obvious answer is not always cast in stone. Years ago I purchased a Challenger vert. It came with manual windows, and i always thought PW's were cool in verts, so I found an original set and they bolted right in and the backs work perfect. The donor set was from a hardtop. I have seen so called pictures of the vert version of rear quarter windows and the only thing I seen that was different was the relief cuts in the gear part of the regulator, nothing to do with fit and operation. The manual regulators that were removed have since been put into a hardtop. 

But Alan is right, a welder and grinder can make anything fit.

Vert vs HT power regulators  And I too have used HT regulators in a vert... Mostly they are fine but occasionally you get a scraping noise at the very limit of travel....

I think a correction is needed - The parts book shows that for MANUAL quarter window regulators, hardtop and vert E-bodies use the same regulator, yet with POWER windows, the regulators are different.
