need help - calling all digital photo manipulation experts

Need some help with digital photo manipulation - specifically how to zoom-in and enhance an image so small details become more identifiable. Take for example this build sheet that was on Mecum a few years back. Can just barely make out some of the characters and codes while others are just "out of reach".



If I just knew how to zoom-in and enhance that picture I could get a lot more information out of that build sheet. So, can any of you digital experts point me in the direction of some enhancement software that I can use to achieve the desired results? Thanks in advance for all of your help with this one.

Zooming in won't be much help unless you have a higher resolution photo... I tried to look at photobucket pic, but gets too blocky when zoomed... trying to clean text up won't work on low pixel count photos, because you get too much background color to differentiate the 'text' part...

The higher the pixel count (and subsequent file size) the better to work with...

Do you have an original image that's higher res? That would make things a lot easier.

Try this...  I have a larger file with slightly more clarity, but for this site it may work OK for you.

Finally some help! Took a bit of time, but I knew the C-C team would pull through and lend a hand!

Yes, "pixilation" is the problem when zooming in on a digital picture. I don't know the resolution of these pictures when I find them, but HK brings up a good idea about getting a higher resolution pic. When I copy these pics, maybe I could save them as higher resolution pic, or change the pic type to a .bmp image, so it won't pixilate so much when I zoom in later? I don't know, TV makes it look so easy when you see movies like Mission Impossible where they zoom in on grainy blurry pics and then the software goes to work to clear up the image and reveal all the details of the once fuzzy picture! Any one here work for the IMF or the NSA?

Changing to BMP will help if you end up opening and resaving the file a lot. If you don't, shouldn't make a difference.

One thing that sometimes happens is that Outlook will automatically resize files, such as when you're sending a file to yourself. It does this to make the file smaller and easier to send. If you see a popup that says something like "Outlook can resize this image to make it transmit faster" then click NO or Maintain Original Size.

I have a lot cleaner file, but it is over 500K (limits group puts on pics).  This is just generated down to fit limits.  BMPs are bigger files too.

Got your email. Looks like that's an image that was originally smaller and was upsized, but I might be wrong. Either way, it's still fuzzy. Do you have the original image anywhere?
