Decided to spend money on the Heat/Soundproofing
« on: December 12, 2016 - 01:03:45 AM »
Where do I go to get Dynamat for heat shield and sound deadening?   Or should I go with the Noico stuff?

Either way - where can I buy this stuff in volume to do my cuda without hurting my checkbook??

Finally - How hard is it to take out the roof liner and the door panels?

You will brake the bank a little , you get what you pay  imo.

This  will do firewall floor rear seat partition and package tray.

Then i bought this thinner stuff to do the doors and took apart and did inside console ..i didnt want any fitment issues.:

For install keep your product warm and make sure  and only pull off  1 ft  at a time of the backing material .  I used a rubber mallet and the mallet handle to conform it to the floor , the dynamat takes a nice beating and forms in well.   For the door panels i just  mirrored the shape of the existng vapor liner and only pulled a I inch edge to stick it to the door shell.  My panels fit on well ..

I have some pics in my. Build thread of the installed. Product

FatMat is just as good (if not better) and costs way less.  I ordered this kit which came in individual sheets instead of one big roll and made it way easier to install.

I use this stuff http://www.gotwirez.com/sound-deadening about 50% the price of dyna mat and it's pretty much the same product.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Thanks Gents'!   Anything special on the firewall and floor to protect from excessive heat?

I shot the under side of the car with lizard skin ceramic coating and the interior side with tinted bedliner.

I couldn't get over the weight impact of some of the matting which is commonly used.

I'm using a brand called noico, readily available on amazon and ebay. It's significantly cheaper than dynamat and they send you a sample of dynamat with a purchase, can't tell the difference. I've heard good things and it's been going on nicely

Love it!  This kit was enough to do my Charger from firewall to under the back seat.

I bought Dynamat from Classic Industries when they had a 25% off sale Christmas day last year and I'm sure they will have a big discount this year also.  If you use it or similar buy a small roller and use a heat gun to help fit it into curves etc.  I used Reflectix for additional heat barrier form Home Depot.

Did you get the heat suppression you had hoped for?

Are you happy with the setup now?

I"m thinking about going with the Dynamat and something else on top... If you're happy, i'll go for the 1/2 cost noico.   I'll double-up on it for sure.

FatMat comes in 50 or 80 mil thickness?
Anyone have experience if the 80 mil is worth the extra money and weight penalty?
