Heater valve cable install - before or after dash install ?

I am in the process of reassembling my restored dash components and wondering if I need to install the AC Heater valve cable before I put the dash in. Looks like it is just held in place with a single screw from the top with no addition clip attaching it to the lever. How much of a pain in the butt is it to connect up later ? I am asking because I don't have the cable right now. - Chris

No sweat....I just finished two AC Challengers and that cable was one of the last things to go in (also because I didn't have one at the time)....

Thanks Alan. I originally reviewed your website pictures to see how you did the sunroof cars assuming that you did enough of them to figure out the best assembly order. Alas, no cable to be seen.
