Base/Clear Respray

I'm not too happy with the job my painter did on the firewall and inner fenders. I want to reshoot it but I'm not sure if I can just scotch brite it and respray ? or do I have to prime it again?
I'd rather not prime again if I can avoid it I don't want to build up the thickness anymore than I have to.

Are you unhappy with the base coat or clear coat? Either way, let the surface cure well then just scuff and reapply the color or clear coat. No need to reprime but make sure you follow the manufacturers directions on how soon to recoat.

He missed a few spots and didn't get the clear on too good. kind of sloppy actually.
It's been about a month and it will be another before I'm ready to do it. I'd think that would be long enough to avoid any lifting. not much info on the can.

Scuff clean and shoot.
Use 3m scuff it gel And a scotch brite till there is no shine , scuff it and red and grey pads work well and dont cut thru color or u have to spot prime. If its a large spot ....

Only if you hit bare metal will you have to re-prime. after several months you should be fine on re-coat time.
