What is a good insurance company with reasonable rates? We just bought a 71 cuda and we're shopping around for insurance.

I use haggerty also, but heard American Collectors are very reasonable. I got a quote from them which was 1/2 of Haggerty. Im waiting for my insurance to expire to see if the coverage is the same.

I used American Collectors for several years but the rates went up nearly double with no claims in the last two years. I got a much better rate with better coverage through my regular auto/home insurance folks (State Farm) and I also got a value increase of about 20%.

I went with AAA and got a great deal for my 64 Vette. Better price than the primary classic car ins companies and it's an actual classic car policy, not a regular one. They are strict on a few things....they actually visited my house to ensure the car was garaged. They took their own photos to ensure mine were not doctored. They wouldn't insure it until my carpeting and trim was installed, etc. - got 50k policy for $250 a year. Had I insured it for less, they might have not been so picky.

I agree, but I only have Comprehensive and no Collision since mine is not derivable yet.  We'll see what happens this summer when I add Collision.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

With all the people choosing insurance through regular insurance companies all I'm saying is be very careful of the wording of your policy..... Insurance salesmen will tell you what you want to hear but the guy writing the compensation check may not be on the same page....

Question
What is the difference between Agreed Value and Stated Value Insurance coverage?

Answer
An Agreed Value policy (which is the same as Hagerty’s Guaranteed Value policy) guarantees the policy will pay the full insured amount of the vehicle, inclusive of all sales taxes – with no depreciation – in case of a covered total loss. A stated value policy (sometimes called stated amount or maximum limit of liability) does not promise upfront to pay this stated amount. In the event of a covered total loss, it may pay less than the stated amount, as the insurer has the right to pay the lesser of your collector car’s depreciated actual cash value (ACV) or its replacement cost. Also, many insurers that offer stated value policies require periodic appraisals to substantiate the insured amount, adding cost and inconvenience to the client.

Good to know...I'm gonna check my policy to be sure. I thought mine was agreed value but I need to know.

And thats exactly my point.... Just check to be sure your protected.. Some major insurance companies do offer ACV policies... But to often Agents will sell you a stated value policy & that does more to protect them than it does you.... And you get to pay for the appraiser....
